    2. Walt, Did Margaret Kerrigan Burns remarry after the death of her husband in the Civil War? Congress passed the Remarried Widows Act of March 3, 1901. The remarried widow was required to furnish proof of the marriage to the Civil War casualty in order to claim a pension; I found a wealth of information about my great-great-Grandmother's first marriage in these files at the National Archives in Washington. I don't know if this is any help in your situation. Iva Hanlon
