Evelyn This was one of the most important infos I have received. I cannot thank you enough for the valuable site and info on my gg gf. I cried when I read his name. This happened so long ago, that Lackawanna Co had not been established. I have not be able to get to Luzerne Co Courthouse for the records. This is the first piece of info I have on John Harris. This was a very sad story for our family. John and Mary Harris came from Wales in 1862 to Scranton, then on to Ohio. When they returned to Avondale after a strike in the mines, they were 24 years old and had four children. Mary's fifth child was born in Jan 1870, little Margaret never knew her father who died at Avondale. Even with this sadness, I noticed many others who lost father and as many as three sons. Heartbreaking!! This is the first piece in the puzzle for this limb of my tree. Thanks for getting me started.
