    3. Iva, This is a most generous offer. John Harris died at Avondale. I would like to know the info and have a copy of the death certificate. I don't know his DOB or place (except Wales). In the havoc of the tragedy, there was probably little info, but sometimes the parents are mentioned. John Harris d: 9/6/1869 wife's name Mary. I believe they lived in Scranton. I'm not sure if the young family went to Avondale with him. At the time of his death, there were 4 children, Eliza, Jane, MaryAnn and Morgan. Mary Harris was pregnant at the time of the disaster and delivered Margaret Harris , Jan 1870. This would be a very great help to me. I would be happy to pay for your time and expenses. Thank you! Does anyone know the name of the company these miners worked for? 3. Hi Shawn,The Avondale Mine property was leased by MR.J.C.Phelps of Wilkes -Barre.June 13,1863,of WM. C. Reynolds Gaylord & others. InJan.1866,Mr. PHELPS assigned it to the STEUBEN COAL CO.,which was- subsequently merged with the NANTICOKE COAL & IRON CO.,who builted the destroyed works & leases from whom the d.l. & w. r.r.co.are. This is just a little part of the account I have on the distaster. If you would like a copy send your address in an e-mail & I will gladly send it to you. I have researched this for years. As my g.grandmother was on her way to AMERICA WITH MY GRANDMOTHER WHO at the time was about a year old.Until they got here this distaster had happened. Mary, READING. iF YOU GET THE CEMETERY SECTIONED OFF,MAYBE I CAN HELP SOME WHEN WE GO UP TO SCRANTON. PLEASE KEEP ME INFORMED. ---- Original Message ----- From: Shawn Presner <spresner@hotmail.com> To: <PALACKAW-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, June 24, 2001 6:04 AM Subject: Re: [PA-LAC] Washburn St Cemetery > Iva, > This is a most generous offer.
