    3. [Reply to list is intended.] Usually Lackawanna county clerks only took the country, and not the city, of foreign born. Sometimes, one gets lucky, but not this time. The first application to list a birthplace was # 221, issued Jan. 1886. All the licenses issued in 1885 only included the residence of the applicants. Other than a first name of the parents, there is usually no other information about them until licenses issued after 1913; that is when they started listing the parent's birthplace and father's occupation. Of course, they didn't even ask for the parents names between 1905 and 1913, just to keep everyone confused. You can write to the Clerk of the Marriage License Bureau at the courthouse (N. Washington Ave., Scranton, 18503) using the index information provided to obtain a copy, or solicit someone to look it up for you. The last that I knew the cost by writing the courthouse was $5. -----Original Message----- From: Bugno Mr John E <Bugnoje@mcsc.usmc.mil> To: Richard M.
