    1. Re: [PALACKAW] Molly McGuires in Scranton
    2. My ggmother was reportedly (I haven't proved it yet, but pretty much all my gmother's relatives heard the same story now for three generations) the sister or niece (I've heard both) of the Thomas Donahue, who owned the bar where Rhea's murder was planned. I've read some of the original trial transcripts, and don't really remember much about Scranton -- the whole "siege" as it was called so often, seemed to stop in Ashland in 1877. If you look at the list of those who were named as conspirators, you'll see that the bulk of them are in Schuylkill County. As Joe said, people all seem to want to be connected to the Mollies. It's like the Easter Rising - in Ireland they say that 30 men walked into the Post Office and 27,000 men left it for America. There's some interesting reading at _http://www.geecoders.com/MollyMaguires/_ (http://www.geecoders.com/MollyMaguires/) that's generally pro-Molly The Alexander Campbell story is here _http://www.crimelibrary.com/notorious_murders/not_guilty/molly_maguires/index .html_ (http://www.crimelibrary.com/notorious_murders/not_guilty/molly_maguires/index.html) An overall history that's pretty good is at _http://www.spartacus.schoolnet.co.uk/USAmolly.htm_ (http://www.spartacus.schoolnet.co.uk/USAmolly.htm) This is the list of people who were supposed Mollies _http://www.rootsweb.com/~pacolumb/molly.htm_ (http://www.rootsweb.com/~pacolumb/molly.htm) Sharon McLaughlin Gowen (no, not that Gowen) searching Gilligan, Dodson, Donaghue, Sorensen, Golden in Luzerne, Lackawanna and Schuylkill Counties 1850-1895. ************************************** Get a sneak peek of the all-new AOL at http://discover.aol.com/memed/aolcom30tour
