    3. Shirley and others: My grandfather Michael McAndrew(whom I never met) was a breaker boss in Throop, arriving about 1903. According to family lore, his job was to supervise the breaker boys. He later was promoted to breaker boss. Which mine, I don't know. The Mollies were active throughout the region. Among those convicted and hanged was another McAndrew. How he was related to my grandfather - and me - I don't know. It was a fascinating era. 3. If you want more information about the dates, I'd suggest the Schylkill county USGenWeb page. However, the activities of the Molly's predates your grandfather by two decades, so I'd really doubt that he "remembered" them. More than likely his recollection was that of the activities of "The Black Hand" of the era 1900 - 1912. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Shirley Harlow" <slh50@msn.com> To: <PALACKAW@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, August 24, 2007 2:13 PM Subject: [PALACKAW] Molly McGuires in Scranton : My grandfather was a coal miner in Scranton, who started as a breaker boy in : about 1898 and worked until the mines closed during the Depression.
