    3. The DODGE was located in what is now Taylor borough, just south of Sixth Avenue and the continuation of Watson St., Scranton. This places it on the west side of the Lackawanna, whereas Minooka is on the east side. The NATIONAL, on the east side, was the mining operation furthest south in Scranton, it being located at the end of Sanders St., and almost against the river. It was not uncommon for miners to walk a considerable distance (or ride the trolly) to and from work. Minooka began just to the south of this point. Please keep in mind that many streets and roads were unnamed before 1883 when the postal office began delivery services within the city of Scranton. An 1873 map is available on the USGenweb / Rootsweb page for Lackawanna and Luzerne counties, along with other maps which might be of help. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kathryn McGuire" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, February 27, 2005 11:48 AM Subject: [PA-LAC] Dodge Colliery > Could someone tell me exactly where the Dodge Colliery was located and > was it near Minooka?
