    3. Scranton Republican, Thursday, May 16, 1901 pg 6 [Taylor news column]: Mary Ann, wife of Bezaleel Thomas of Main street, died at 1 o'clock yesterday afternoon, after several weeks illness, She was 68 years and 9 months old. She was born in Brynmawr, South Wales, and came to this country 40 years ago. She was a model little woman, full of care, of a kind and gentle disposition, always ready to do a good turn to her friends, and was one of the best of neighbors. Quiet, unassuming, and full of good will. She and her husband located at Pittston, where they lived for many years, and her friends at that place will testify as to her good character. As a Christion she was a devout member of the Welsh Baptist church, and a mother of Israel, always found at her church week nights and Sundays until her health failed. A husband and the following children survive her: Mrs. Elizabeth Havard, John H. Thomasn Mrs. Richard Howells, Willie and Evan Thomas, of this place. She also has one sister in Pittston, Mrs. Stephen Williams. The funeral will take place Saturday afternoon. Services at the house, conducted by Rev. D. C. Edwards and other pastors at 2 p.m. Interment at the Forest Home cemtery. Pittston papers please copy. <> Scranton Times, Monday, May 20, 1901, pg. 1 [Taylor news column]: Taylor, May 20 - The funeral of the late Mrs. Belazeel Thomas occurred from the family residence, on Main street, on Saturday afternoon and was attended by an unusual gathering of friends and relatives. Long before the appointed hour her late home was over-crowded with sympathizers and mourners, who had gathered to pay their last respects to the memory of the departed one, who in life was a woman of tender kindness, a devouted Christian and a kind and generous mother, and whose depatrure is sadly grieved by the sorrowing relatives and friends. The services were conducted at her late home at 2:30 o'clock and were very impressive. Rev. D. C. Edwards, pastor of the Welsh Baptist church, of which the deceased was a mos t faithful member, and Rev. H. H. Harris, of the Calvary Baptist church, officiated. The reverend gentlemen paid a deserving tribute to the memory of this model woman and delivered two eloquent sermons. The former preached in the Welsh language, and the latter in English. The Welsh Baptist church chior, under the direction of John R. Francis, rendered several familiar hymns, which were pathetic. There were a number of beautiful floral desins presented by relatives and friends. At the close of the services the remains were conveyed to the Forest Home cemetery, where interment was made. Among the out-of-town people who attended the obsequies were: Mrs. Charles Jones, of Hyde Park; Mrs. James Johns, of Duryea; Mrs. Thomas Williams, of Scranton; Mrs. Morgan Hopkins, of West Scranton; and Mrs. Samuel Jones, of South Scranton. <> [Note: Obit did not appear in the Scranton Times, and funeral summation was not run in the Republican.] ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sheri NIelsen" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, February 14, 2005 11:46 AM Subject: [PA-LAC] OBITUARY LOOK-UP NEEDED BEZALEEL THOMAS & MARY ANN THOMAS > Hello everyone, > > I'm in need of an obituary look-up for my GGG-Grandfather & GGG-Grandmother. > > BEZALEEL THOMAS b.
