Dear List: I need some help with my Kembel relatives in PA. My great grandfather was David Kembel and he married Lydia Wert and they had my grandfather, Daniel Kembel (also spelled Kemble in several places). I have been told that my great grandfather's and great grandmother's families were from Holland but David and Lydia were born in Northumberland County in PA. In a book about the Kembles in America I found that David Kembel was 35 in the 1850 census of Northumberland County and Lydia Wert was 33. That would mean David was born about 1815. I have been given some conflicting information about David and Lydia. In the Kembel book it indicates David and Lydia had 5 children (Daniel W, Sarah, Catherine, Elizabeth and Mary). The information I received elsewhere was that David and Lydia Wirth had 6 children (Sarah, Daniel, Catherine, Elizabeth, Mary and Harriet). This Kembel family has roots in Germany. The dates of birth for the children are similiar to what I have. However, they list Daniel as being buried in Stone Valley Church Cemetery and I know that my Daniel is buried in City Cemetery in Wilkes Barre. Is there anyone out there who could help me with this family? I have hit a brick wall beyond David and Lydia in my Kembel family. Thanks so much.
