In searching the rootseb/lackawanna archinves for my family, I came up the following... 1877 - William J. Burke was the first burgess from 1877-79. The firstjustices were Henry Howell and James Loftus. Does any one happen to know what a burgess is? I know my great grandfather William J. Burke was a postmaster in Minooka & a former miner & mine inspector, would this be replated to any of those positions?
