Scranton wasn't anywhere as big in 1860 as it was in 1870. Providence and Hyde Park were not yet part of the city, so there was no 6th Ward at the time. Also the census is not broken out into ED's until 1880. Bellvue Flats as that section is known was most likely still a part of Lackawnna township. I would suggest use of roll # 1134, starting at page 415. Scranton came after Providence Twp. on roll # 1135, somewhere after page 852. I know that Petersburg section of the city was 916 and I list two Reese's in my index on page 1004. So there are two places you might look. -----Original Message----- From: PUSTULKA@aol.com <PUSTULKA@aol.com> To: PALACKAW-L@rootsweb.com <PALACKAW-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Wednesday, August 15, 2001 1:13 PM Subject: [PA-LAC] 1860 census(Bellvue section) >Hi List, > >I have not yet found the family of Thomas and Catherine Coggins on the 1860 >census even though I know he lived in the area. I was out of town yesterday, so I'm a little late responding to this thread. I'm speaking without digging into my paperwork, but I think Rich is right. The Bellevue Section was part of Lackawanna Township in 1860. I don't have a tape number, but when you get the Lackawanna Township tape pay attention to the Post Office, if I remember right Bellevue was served by the Hyde Park Post Office.
