In my morning paper here in Jacksonville, Duval Co, FL today 25 Sept 2001 Edward Theodore "Ed" or Ted" WALSH passed away on September 15, 2001 at St vincent's Medical Center, Jacksonville, FL. He was born in Scranton, PA and was a long time resident of Binghamton/Johnson City, NY. For the past 15 years, he and his wife resided in Jacksonville. He was a retired military veteran and proudly served his country from 1946 to 1984, in the US Army Air Corps, US Air Force, US Air Force Reserves and NY Army National Guard, at Binghamton, NY. In March 1956, he was promoted to M/Sgt while still on active duty, in the US Air Force and was honorably discharged from enlisted status to Reserve of the Air Force in 1959, as M/Sgt. He joined the NY ARNG and served until he honorably retired on 30 November 1984. He spent most of his life in the military and in transportation. He was a long haul independent trucker, who owned his own fleet of trucks in Johnson City, NY, and a chauffeur, who never met a stranger. He is survived by his wife Mary Ann Helen (HESS), one son, Edward Ronald Walsh, Chenango Bridge, NY, three daughters and sons-in-law, Laura Ann (Gerald Alan) O'Brennan, Sierra Vista, AZ, Sandra Jean (James John "Jim" Diffin, Binghamton, NY, Donna Marie (Eddie) Garmany, and two grandchildren, Stacy Mae and Jason Edward, Johnson City, TN, his sister Ann Marie Gorman, Vestal, NY, brothers Paul Robert (Linda), Smyrna, NY and John Joseph "Jack" (Ruth), FL, a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and many friends.
