Does anyone know if the records for the Archdiocese have been microfilmed? The Archdiocese of Milwaukee has let LDS microfilm all their records which include abaout 3 94 or counties. Any plans for Lack. Co. If they didn't want LDS to do it they could digitize the records so they wouldn't get lost or damaged. St. Mary's Assumption does not photo copy their records as they are fragile. At least they should photo copy them and keep the originals in a safe. Anyway - my 2 cents
Most records for Catholic Churches are not microfilmed for public display since there are often private notes/comments that are recorded regarding the father or mother of the child. You will find that most Catholic Churches are very guarded when it comes to allowing other people page through the books/registers. Usually, you will have to wait for the parish secretary to find the time to do the Research. And depending on the size of the parish and time of year it is, it may take some time for the secretary to get to the request. -----Original Message----- From: palackaw-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:palackaw-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Lenora Mulock Sent: Tuesday, December 11, 2007 7:25 AM To: palackaw@rootsweb.com Subject: [PALACKAW] Catholic church records in Lackawanna Co Does anyone know if the records for the Archdiocese have been microfilmed?
