St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church - German - (West Scranton) was formally closed October 2004. In the early 1990s, St. John the Baptist Church was merged with St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church (Jackson Street, West Scranton). All records, including baptismal, marriage, death, and cemetery records are currently held at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church. The cemetery records, however, are not the best. The "German" cemetery would appear to be part of Cathedral Cemetery, although it is under the care of St. Patrick's. > From: slh50@msn.com> To: palackaw@rootsweb.com> Date: Mon, 10 Dec 2007 12:47:28 -0500> Subject: [PALACKAW] Two other cemeteries within Cathedral> > > This Sept. I went to the Cathedral office for help finding my family's graves, which I knew from Walt Sullivan's list were there somewhere. The lady was extremely kind and helpful, but had no record of them. When she asked what parish they had belonged to and I said "St. John's" (German National Catholic Church), she directed me to a special section of the cem., for which Cathedral does NOT have records. However, it is small and easliy walked to find the graves, and I did find them. The other, even smaller section is called "Russian" cemetery, and it adjoins the St. John's section.> > Shirley in Ohio, but from NJ> > -------------------------------> To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to PALACKAW-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message _________________________________________________________________ Share life as it happens with the new Windows Live.Download today it's FREE! http://www.windowslive.com/share.html?ocid=TXT_TAGLM_Wave2_sharelife_112007
