Sacred Heart Church in Jermyn was established as a territorial parish in 1889. Previous to that the people of Jermyn could have gone to St. Rose of Lima in Carbondale (established 1832) or St. Thomas Aquinas in Archbald (established 1858) - both territorial (largely Irish) parishes.
