I was born in Parsons in 1927. I still remember the Memorial Day parades that we went to as youngsters in W-B. We then had a chance to see some Civil War Vets, Vets from the Spanish American War and of course WWI. World War I was important because of my uncle (Lawrence Fehlinger) who died in France with the 109th. The big moment was when the boat loaded with flowers was floated down the river and as it passed the bridge was exploded. You other "old timers" may still call this Decoration Day" Hopefully you are all displaying your flags.
