In regard to the Carbondale map, my grandparents lived further south than what the map is showing. Any chance of getting a may further south on Brooklyn Street. I am researching the MEEDITH family of Scranton. Does anyone know who I may be able to contact to look for several obituaries? I have specific dates of death for four ancestors and would be happy to pay someone for the help. Thanks. I too want to thank you Rich. Your cemetery additions turned up one of my relatives. I have only one question. Is there a place where I can acquire the Scranton paper obits? It was so kind of you to add that info to the transcription when it was possible to do so. Cheryl
Yes, thanks Rich for all that work. I actually found my husband's uncle there. Do you have any more info about Evan McCloskey or any other McCloskey buried there? My Great Great Great Grandfather, Theophilus Evans (b. 1792 d. 20 Oct 1868) and my Great Great Grandfather, Reese T Evans (b. 1825 d.1887) and his wife Mary (b. 1824 d. 1896) are listed on the Washburn 1947 LDS list...they are buried together marked with a huge Evans cemetery marker. I am trying to confirm is Theophilus' wife, Mary is also buried there. I visited the cemetery last year but the marker is very hard to read. Does anyone out there have this information? Trying to figure out if she died in Wales or in PA.
Hi Steve, I think I can help with the transcription in order to get this thing going again. I've been transcribing passenger manifests for Immigrant Ships Transcribers Guild for almost ten years and have gotten pretty good at deciphering old handwriting. Where is your web site? I'd like to see your format. Looking forward to hearing from you. Pat Kennedy Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania **************Biggest Grammy Award surprises of all time on AOL Music. Hi, Back when I had more time and was more involved with the Lackawanna site, Mr. Richard Krapf, the secretary at Prospect Hill Cemetery & I started working on a project to scan and publish all the old burial records. On my website, I have the "A"s and "B"s. (about 125 names), but that was as far as I got. I'd be happy to contribute these. There are two different indexes, as well as a map and the original scanned pages. He and I have talked about getting the project going again, but my time is still limited. If there were folks willing to volunteer to do the transcription part (the pages are all handwritten), we might be able to kick start it again. I believe I have all the pages through the "M"s already, and he can send me the rest. I can do the scanning and the website bits. Let me know if there is interest. -steve Patk135@aol.com wrote: > Susan, > > I have about a dozen additions to the Prospect Hill Cemetery listing. Do I > send them to Richard Reese? Hi List: My Aunt, Pecoli Webb, was born in Moosic,PA in 1899 and died in 1907. She is buried at the Marcy Cemetery in Duryea,PA. Where woud I find a copy of her Death Certificate? I would like to verify the spelling of her given name. If you are looking for the civil records for a person who died or was born in Lackawanna county, that request would have to go the State's Bureau of Vital Records, for anyone who was born or died after 1905. If you are looking for birth or death registrations from 1893 to the end of 1905 (except for Scranton or Carbondale city), delayed birth registrations made after 1940 for those born before 1906, wills and estate dockets, or marriages after Oct. 1, 1885; those requests should go to the county. Some of these documents have been made available through LDS mircofilm, such as marriages 1915 - 1950, Scranton Board of Health births and deaths, 1878 - 1905, County registrations of births and deaths, 1893-1905; church records, etc. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ken Forgione" <kforgione@hvc.rr.com> To: <palackaw@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, January 24, 2008 6:31 PM Subject: [PALACKAW] birth and death records : i am wondering if a person was either born or died or both with in lackawanna county would i still have to write to the state to get their documents or could i find them somewhere within the county like the local LDS. : : ------------------------------- : To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to PALACKAW-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message :
