Thanks for everyone's input about the Methodist Episcopal church. The specific ones I'm looking for are the Simpson M.E. and the Elm Park M.E. churches in the Scranton area. Thanks again. This should keep me busy for awhile! Dot Hosking Huntley in SW Oregon
St. Mary's Cemetery on Stafford Avenue in South Scranton is still existence; however, the road is closed as it approaches the bridge just before the cemetery. You have to park the car and walk down to it. I'm not positive but I believe the cemetery is associated with St. Mary of the Assumption Church on the 400 block of River Street in South Scranton. I'm sure you would be able to send an inquiry to St. Mary's Church, 400 Block of River Street, Scranton, Pa 18505 and it would be delivered properly. Which of the St. Mary's is no longer in existance? > Lenora, I have a telephone directory of Scranton, Clarks Summit/Carbondale, and I see no listings under cemeteries for St. Mary's. There are two for St. Catherine's and one for St. Joseph's. In the white pages, there is a whole column of St. Mary's, but there are two actually listed as St. Mary's Assumption Church. One is listed as 41 Carroll, phone no. 570- 655-9973. The other is at 517 Third Ave. Jessup, 570-489-4726. Hope some of this will help. Ruth (also from Wisconsin)

I checked the 'power site' and found it difficult to find anything. Could you tell me what I did wrong? I was looking for a death record. I clicked on the name and the word 'obituary'. MargeB
