Glen, When I have a chance to unpack my boxes, I will look at my father's military records. He served in the USMCR during WWII and was stationed in the South Pacific, and also from the Scranton/Wilkes Barre area. I am sure that his records will show where he took his oath etc. His name was Joseph Reynolds. I was out of town yesterday, so I'm a little late responding to this thread. I'm speaking without digging into my paperwork, but I think Rich is right. The Bellevue Section was part of Lackawanna Township in 1860. I don't have a tape number, but when you get the Lackawanna Township tape pay attention to the Post Office, if I remember right Bellevue was served by the Hyde Park Post Office. Schultzville is I believe part of Newton Township. Tom
I should have read all of my mail, before reposting.... Thanks Rich Reese, your info is what I was looking for! Thanks list! You are all so helpful. Regards, Pat Britton
Hi Again, I thought I should clarify my last post, I am seeking the Enumeration District for Schultzville, in the 1920 census. Thanks for any help! And thanks to Laurence Lance, for your assistance. Thanks, Pat Britton <Hi, Does anyone know where I can find Schultzville in the 1920 census? I have tried to find it on Images Online at Ancestry.com, but can't seem to find it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Pat Britton>
Thanks Richard, I will order both of those rolls of microfilm next time I get to the FHC. Carol
Hi again I am researching my cousin's Harry Jones' service career in the marines. I know from his obituary that he served in WWII and Korea. Thanks to this site, I sent off what information I had to the NATIONAL PERSONNEL RECORDS CENTRE, St. Louis and they have asked me to complete Form 13075 which requires more information than I have. For example, where would a veteran from Scranton have taken the oath of servie at this time? Would this vary or be the same place? Are there any indexes of armed forces personnel in Scranton or is there any other local source I could find that could help here? Any help much appreciated. When the PA State Library prepared their ED references for the census of 1880, Shultzville was broken out seperately. They listed it as part of Newton Township, which I believe would still be correct. That list is posted at http://www.rootsweb.com/~palackaw/census.html In 1920, Newton Twp. was on roll 1578 with two ED's: 74 and 75. However if they were more toward Glenburn (Gravel Pond) [West Abington Twp., 1577 ED 58] or Dalton [1577, ED 30], you may want to consider those areas as well. Just west of Shutzville is Wyoming County - Overfield Twp. I do not have a list for Wyoming Co. as I don't do that much research there. -----Original Message----- From: BRITTOP@aol.com <BRITTOP@aol.com> To: PALACKAW-L@rootsweb.com <PALACKAW-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Wednesday, August 15, 2001 11:30 PM Subject: [PA-LAC] Need Help with 1920 Census >Hi, >Does anyone know where I can find Schultzville in the 1920 census? >I have tried to find it on Images Online at Ancestry.com, but can't >seem to find it. Pat, my Great Grandfather Anthony Lance was in Schultzville circa 1880. It's a little town within 5 to 10 miles of Scranton. Memory fades at the moment, but I'm sure Rich Reese or SKS will send the details. Laurence Lance Seattle

I am looking for information regarding Timothy Kelly and his wife Mary. They had one daughter that I know of Bridget V. Kelly. Bridget was born in 1879. Any infomation would be geatly appreciated. thanks donna
Carol, Seems that Jim Dolan, yourself and I have some family names in common. I grew up in South Side, and on my father's mother's side, the line is Maguire-Finnegan. I can remember as I young boy some Dempsey and Coggins relations. I know that the Scranton Finnegan's are from Easkey Co. Sligo. WHen I was nine, my family moved over to West Side, so I know Eynon Street well, I lived in the 1100 block of West Locust. I'm in New York now, so my record digging is sort of on hiatus until the fall. Jim --- PUSTULKA@aol.com wrote: > Hi Jim, > > I have been in contact with Jim Dolan. Scranton wasn't anywhere as big in 1860 as it was in 1870. Providence and Hyde Park were not yet part of the city, so there was no 6th Ward at the time. Also the census is not broken out into ED's until 1880. Bellvue Flats as that section is known was most likely still a part of Lackawnna township. I would suggest use of roll # 1134, starting at page 415. Scranton came after Providence Twp. on roll # 1135, somewhere after page 852. I know that Petersburg section of the city was 916 and I list two Reese's in my index on page 1004. So there are two places you might look. -----Original Message----- From: PUSTULKA@aol.com <PUSTULKA@aol.com> To: PALACKAW-L@rootsweb.com <PALACKAW-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Wednesday, August 15, 2001 1:13 PM Subject: [PA-LAC] 1860 census(Bellvue section) >Hi List, > >I have not yet found the family of Thomas and Catherine Coggins on the 1860 >census even though I know he lived in the area. Hi Jim, I have been in contact with Jim Dolan. I have also found members of the Coggins family I am researching on Eynon Street. Michael Coggins who I am pretty sure was my gg grandfathers brother lived on Eynon Street in 1880 and so did Stephen Coggins, his nephew and the son of John Coggins in 1910. The Thomas Coggins who married Mary Finnegan was not the son of Michael and Ellen was he? I have not definitely connected Michael to the Coggins family I am working on. He is missing from the bio but everything points to him being another son. He is an administrator of the estate of Thomas Coggins, a godparent to John's children, his immigration year from the 1880 census matches other members of the family etc. etc. He is one of the reasons I would like to find the family in 1860. Carol
Hi List, I have not yet found the family of Thomas and Catherine Coggins on the 1860 census even though I know he lived in the area. He was naturalized in what was at the time Wyoming County in 1852. He does not show up on the census index for 1850 or 1860. Does anyone know the film number for the Bellevue section of Scranton in 1860? I am pretty sure that that is where he lived. He was in Ward 6, City of Scranton in 1870. I am hoping he is in the same place in 1860. Can anyone help me out? Thanks, Carol
Carol, I know I have some Coggins' relations in my family tree, I have'nt had the time to figure them out. Jim Dolan has been some help, but I'll need to do some more research.
