    3. Hello list, I have enjoyed reading the newspaper list from the Providence Register & Republican. I was woundering if someone might have a copy of both of these papers for the period around Feb. 5, 1899? My father William Size was born on that date. I'm not really sure if they lived in Providence or in Pine Brook at that time. I have two addresses for them, 1: 1126 Short Ave., 2nd. ward from the 1900 census and 2: 840 Lords Court, 7th ward was purchased by my granfather but don't know when. If someone could take a peek to see I would be greatfull. Not askin for ya to make a special trip or anything just if you happen to see it if you have a paper from that time. Thanks, Mary Researching: Size & Cusick from Scranton & Ireland __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Get email alerts & NEW webcam video instant messaging with Yahoo! 2. Hi Listers: I hit another BIG brick wall. I received my ggrandfather's death certificate (ELI (DICKINSON) which stated he died 5/6/1940 in Carbondale with no cemetery listed. Glen a fellow listed told me that the funeral director died right after my ggrandfather did without out it being passed down to a family member. I called the PA Funeral Directors Assoc for information, but none there. Any suggestions how I can find out where he is buried without calling every Cemetery in Carbondale. I plan on visiting Lackawanna the week of Sept 10th and hoping to be able to visit his grave. Thanks Verna

    2. Robert L Webb
    3. Dear List members, For the past several months we have been doing research, and entering information on our website about Primitive or Old School Baptist churches, and their members' surnames, in about twenty of the northern states across America. We have been working on Pennsylvania and Michigan lately, but have a long ways to go, as we have not done nearly as much research on churches in those states as in Illinois and others closer to us. However, we wish to submit what we have to the genealogy research public, in hopes of obtaining help, information about the location of records, and just to be of help wherever we can. We realize our information will not help a large percentage of genealogists, but since many of the churches are very old, we may be able to help some in Pennsylvania or Michigan, as we have in other states. We have a library of church periodicals with several thousand obituaries in them, and a database of names of members which now exceeds 30,000 and growing. The surnames we have given serve as an index to our database which includes full names, and in some cases we have obituaries, etc. If you wish to take a look at our whole website, go to: http://www.carthage.lib.il.us/community/churches/primbap/pbl.html Or, if you wish to go the Pennsylvania and Michigan page directly, replace the pbl.html at the end of the URL with FamHist-NY.html We welcome you to write in our guestbooks, or to write to us. It may take us a few days to reply to email. Sincerely, Elder Robert Webb The Primitive Baptist Library 416 Main Street Carthage, IL 62321 ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! My web search found nothing but historical items. My grandfather and grandmother both worked there around 1912-1913. That's how they met. I had been hoping (foolishly?) that there would still be something on file about them. My father also worked there, as an elevator operator. He told me a story about when Joe Lewis came to town and, of course, took the room on the top floor of the hotel. Joe's "entourage" and reporters all squeezed into the elevator for the trip to the top floor. My father cringed because he knew the old elevator couldn't handle it. As they neared the top floor, the elevator slipped, I think it was a floor or two, and came to an abrupt stop. He said you never saw a more concerned group, all brushing Joe off asking "Joe, are you all right? Are you hurt, Joe?" Joe was relieved when he finally got off on the top floor. ==== PALACKAW Mailing List ==== Have you visited the Lackawanna County page lately? http://www.rootsweb.com/~palackaw/ To unsubscribe: http://www.rootsweb.com/~palackaw/index.html#MailingList

    1. [PA-LAC] Re: SCHALLER
    2. Dear List, My memory is so poor! I have a message for the person who contacted the list re: George Schaller. I have forgotten the screen name, but the person lived in Elmira, NY. Anyway, I got out to Oak Lawn Cemetery in Hanover Twp. and found some dates for your Schaller family. George Schaller 1839 -1920 George W. Schaller January 4, 1900 - May 17, 1932 Christian Schaller 1873 - 1929 Mary Schaller 1874 - 1941 Catherine Nelligan, beloved wife of John March 27, 1910 - June 3, 1978 In truth, the gentleman who is the caretaker was not particularly helpful. He finds genealogists to be a distraction from his work, he said. He did give me the dates on George W. and a map to the grave site, so I got what I could from the graves themselves. I fear that this will not be especially helpful to you. I wish that I could send more information. Iva

    2. Joe Bryer and GRSNP have come through. He told me via e-mail they found my grandfather's naturalization records and two marriage records. I received them today. They will send other material when they get it from the state. I think GRSNP has developed a good reputation and, as a result, has been overwhelmed with requests. Sometimes the volunteer staff hasn't kept requestors informed of the status of their request. Having served as a volunteer, I understand the problem. My faith has been restored and I thank Joe and GRSNP for their efforts.
