Hello listers ~ About 1880's there was a miners riot. One of the leaders was named Benjamin Davis. Does anyone remember the name of the riot/strike? Still looking for the possible link with the "gentle man". Thanks, Curly --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Search presents - Jib Jab's 'Second Term'

Hi David: I do not have a census look up request but wondered if you were anywhere where you could look up a marriage license. Or if you know any online site that I can do this for Scranton, Pa. Dear Dave, I would like you to do a lookup for me for my great grandfather who lived in Old Forge, Pa.. His name was Thomas Fahey. His wife's name was Winifred and her maiden name was O'Connor. Don't know where they would have lived in Old Forge but I know it was Old Forge. Also if you can look up my maternal grandmother Julia Dolgash. Her maiden name was Longazo.Would appreciate anything you can find out. Deb Moore Virginia Beach, Va.
Dear list, I am now offering look ups in the 1900 and 1910 census for Lackawanna County. When I offered look ups for the 1920 census, I assumed that I would get swamped with requests. I did not however, so I figured that I could offer look ups in 2 census years. Please include as much info as possible when requesting a look up. Only requests for Lackawanna County will be honored, all others will be ignored. I only do this so as not to become overwhelmed with requests. Please email me direct with your requests. Subject line should read: "1900/1910 census look-up request". Dave Yarros Note to Pat Carden: I did re-email you the info but it was bounced back to me...do you have another email address that I could try?
You should try Scranton for the Lackawanna County Records first. The microfilm available at the courthouse covers from Carbondale city naturalizations in 1851 through the early 1900's. GRSNP has indexed them and should provide the index numbers upon request. The films of the dockets are available at the courthouse, the geneaological society, and the PA State Archive. Usually most county naturalization papers in PA gave only the name, age, and country of birth of the applicant plus the names of a witness (or sponser) who knew the applicant for the period he resided in this country before filing. Lackawanna county's went a bit further and you can often get an exact date of birth, date and port of arrival. However, no parents names, and rarely an exact birthplace. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jason Ferguson" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, February 13, 2005 5:06 PM Subject: [PA-LAC] Naturalization Records in Scranton > I need to track down the First Papers for James H Connor (if only in > hopes that he listed his parents name on them!). I need to track down the First Papers for James H Connor (if only in hopes that he listed his parents name on them!). He lived in Scranton (524 N. Bromley Ave). Does the Scranton/Lackawanna courthouse house a fair collection of these, or should I check out Luzerne county's records? Lackawanna/Scranton doesn't seem to have any of these records filmed in the LDS Catalog. Jason
Can anyone direct me to a source to determine if Franklin Street in Dunmore, Lackawanna, PA, was in District 29 in the 1880 census? I've been unable to find which streets made up Dist. 29 in 1880 and the census does not show the street names for the data collection. There were three districts in 1880 in Dunmore, Dist #29, 30 and 31. I'm trying to figure out if in 1910 "my" Margaret Derrig/Derrick, living next door to a John Gerrity family on Franklin St., is from the same Derrig line (Patrick/Winnie Durick, Derick, Derrig) living next door to a Catherine Gerahty family in 1880. I do not have any more info on Patrick & Winnie's location after 1880. thanks, jho
Dear Dave, Thanks so much for this incredible offer. You are so generous. If you will look up the following for me: Eugene Van Valen John Burk(e) Sorry about the "e" indecisiveness, but that's my GG and I'm told at some point he added an "e" to our family name. Thanks again, Patricia Burke Carden
David: Very generous of you to offer lookups! When you can I would like a look-up for: GOODWIN, Thomas b. Wales abt. 1850 wife is Eliz. if still living. Last known to reside in Carbondale. Tom, Spotted your note on the Lackawana List -- > Please do not ask for lookups. We are in the process of moving and they are packed. Please let me have your new address when convenient. And good luck with the move! Bill
Dear list, I have been helped by numerous people on this list and others, so now it is time to give back. I recently subscribed to Godfrey.org and now have access to census images. Knowing that I will get swamped, I am going to start by offering lookups in the 1920 CENSUS, LACKAWANNA COUNTY ONLY. All other requests will be ignored. Please limit the number of names to be looked up to about 2 or 3 per email. Also, it is very important that you type "1920 census look up offer" in the subject line of the email, otherwise it may be inadvertently deleted. Please supply as much info as you can to help me find your names. Dave Yarros
During the past year, it was my privilege to purchase (at a rather hefty price) 5 old Scranton City Directories. I checked the 1916 directory and it lists Accomodation St. in Dunmore as going "from Walnut east to Ross ward 2 Dunmore." Interestingly enough there are no houses listed on it, as there are on other streets. Please do not ask for lookups. We are in the process of moving and they are packed. Tom Price
Okay, I got all the requests I can handle for this go-round (probably MORE than I should handle, but oh well...) I'd like to take this opportunity to encourage folks to help out if they can in the future... Jason
In hopes of starting a trend, I'd like to make an offer... I have put on order at my local FHC the microfilm for the Record of Deaths Index for 1878-1905 to try to find a death date of my own. As an experiment to see how well this works, I am willing to offer to do a few lookups on this roll. However, two things. I can only help about 3-4 people total and only about 2 requests per person due to limited time. I know its not much, but I'm willing to try to help. Please respond to me off-list. I'll reply to the first few persons who contact me (if anyone does at all). Jason
