I am trying to send emails to Richard O'DONNELL, Jerry DISKIN and Kay ANDREWS who are all interested in DISKIN research. If anyone has their emails addresses and/or interested in DISKIN family please let me know Thanks Walt
Jason, Last time I knew, it was $20/will copy, however I strongly recommend you call the number from the contact page on the website and verify the entire procedure: http://www.rootsweb.com/~palackaw/resources.html -steve Jason Ferguson wrote: >I need a copy of a will, for which I have a name, date of death and >will number. I need a copy of a will, for which I have a name, date of death and will number. Can anyone advise as to how much it would cost to obtain that copy, so I can include payment with my request? Jason
A gentleman on one of my British lists has set up a site where people can try to locate descendants for certificates that they have and don't need. I thought it was a lovely idea, and wanted to pass it along -- many of us get birth or death certificates only to find out that its not our family after all. The majority of the certificates and wills posted thus far are British, but there are a few stray American as well, so if you have certificates stashed away that you don't need, this could be a way to find someone who can use them. http://bmd-cert-exch-site.ourwardfamily.com/ Alaine ~~~~~ www.nepagenealogy.com www.lackawannacounty.info

Hi Sheri, Have you ever used RAOGK ? ( Random acts of genealogy kindness) I have used it myself along with being a volunteer on that web site helping others who could not get to the area that I live in. Right now I have taken myself off the RAOGK list because we are going to be moving sometime in the next few months from Ohio to North Carolina. According to the Albright Library Website, they won't loan their items outside the state, last I checked the site. Has this changed? Jason
Thank you! I have seen libraries listed as resources, but hearing *how* to use them is very helpful. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, February 17, 2005 5:50 PM Subject: Re: [PA-LAC] Inter Library Loan? > Hi Laurie, > > If you go to the Library site for the state you're interested in, you will > be > able to review what they have available on microfilm to lend. Hi Laurie, If you go to the Library site for the state you're interested in, you will be able to review what they have available on microfilm to lend. Then work with your librarian as to how to access (borrow) the films you want. Newspapers are very popular but not all years have been filmed, also they changed hands over the years or new ones appeared to take their place. You'll be able to get a print out at home of what you're interested in and take that to the library with you. Good luck. Mary
Hey Suzie, To make a long story short Just e-mail me with what you need , depending on dates I might be able to help you get your obits. Sheri
Curly The strike is known as the 'Welsh Strike' and started in December 1871. Benjamin Davis and Daniel Jones were shot on 17 May 1871 by the state malitia under the leadership of William Scranton. A good summary of the incident is in the book 'Wales in American: Scranton and the Welsh 1860-1920' by William D. Jones published in the USA by University of Scranton Press ISBN 094086665X Library of Congress Catalog Number 93-060155. This is good news, and I wonder: how can I learn what other microfilms or records I might be able to ask my library to borrow? Hi Sheri, This is a message I sent to Suzie, you might be interested in it also. Hi Susie, Your public library would probably be able to get the Scranton newspapers on microfilm for you through Inter Library Loan. The Pennsylvania STate Library has the films and your library would be borrowing them. There might be a small charge, about $3.00, maybe not, depending on your library, and you can keep the film for about three weeks. Actually the library keeps the film and you can view it any time you want in the 3 week period. I have done this many times and I live in Michigan. It's a great way to read about activities in Scranton at the time and you might find other valuable info along the way. While looking for an obituary I came across school news one day and there was something about a great uncle; he won a dollar for good attendance. You just order the films for the dates you want. It's very easy to find the date on the films, then you just have to cruise that day's paper to see where they've placed the obits. Good luck. Mary PS: Most libraries are open in the evening making it easier for working people to visit.
Hi Suzie, If you find someone willing to do obit look-ups will you forward my email to them I've been look for someone. nobody goes to the library anymore, lol. Sheri
Hi, I was wondering if someone out there could lookup a few obits for me? I'm looking for a Bridget Gibbons died December 16, 1901 and a Bridget McD Gibbons died May 27, 1914 All I know is that these 2 died in Lackawanna county. Thank You Suzie Potter
Thank you for this link. However, the Davis I am looking for is/was a Welsh miner who worked in a mine in the Scranton area. Again, thanks !
