    2. The CAREY people listing has me curious if anyone knows of Permelia Carey, daughter of John Carey and second wife of ANTHONY LANCE. Permelia was born August 1874 in Dalton, PA. She married Anthony in Waverly on Sept 02, 1899. Anthony had children by his marriage to Emma E. Decker, but had three girls with Permelia: Charlotte b 1902 in Dalton. She married Harry Hanyon Bernice b 1903 who married a Mr. Kelly and Hazel born 1906 in Falls Twp. who married a Mr. Flynn. Anthony died in 1931 and is buried in Nicholson Cemetery. Permelia contracted cancer and died in 1933. Her obit states that her granddaughter JUNE QUINN was at her home in Nicholson but so far I have not been able to track down who June was. Would anyone know of Permelia, her dauthers or of my LANCE family? Thank you, and especially to Rich Reese who has for a long long time been a gift from heaven in my seemingly endless search for my family. Laurence Lance Seattle

    3. The source material was his obit in the Scranton Times. Many burials of that era were marked by small numbered stones which were torn up and discarded by that infamous previous owner. If you believe that he was the owner of the plot, you might wish to contact the present owners of the cemetery. They do have a wall map in their office which might be of help. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Curly" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, March 01, 2005 5:00 PM Subject: Re: [PA-LAC] Dodge Colliery <snip> wondering if you could answer this question? There is an Albert Worrell listed under Washburn's site. (This is my ggguncle) The source material that you used~does it indicate whether there is/was a head stone? Or was it an unmarked grave site? I will be in Scranton in May and I would like to walk the cemetery (for the 4th time) in search of his grave and his mother (my gggrandmother). Although, you do not have a listing for her, I have a transportation document that states she was to be buried there too. Any help, guidance or thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks, Karlene

This places it on the west side of the Lackawanna, whereas Minooka is on the east side. The NATIONAL, on the east side, was the mining operation furthest south in Scranton, it being located at the end of Sanders St., and almost against the river. It was not uncommon for miners to walk a considerable distance (or ride the trolly) to and from work. Minooka began just to the south of this point. Please keep in mind that many streets and roads were unnamed before 1883 when the postal office began delivery services within the city of Scranton. An 1873 map is available on the USGenweb / Rootsweb page for Lackawanna and Luzerne counties, along with other maps which might be of help. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kathryn McGuire" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, February 27, 2005 11:48 AM Subject: [PA-LAC] Dodge Colliery > Could someone tell me exactly where the Dodge Colliery was located and > was it near Minooka?
