Your welcome! Also, I didn't say she lived in NYS, I said that may be something to consider. I don't know, of course, if either of those NY entries will prove out to be your Margaret. Good luck! Toni Mason <[email protected]> wrote: Thanks so much Sue for the information on Margaret Walsh O'Malley. I guess I didn't do "wild card" searches and missed her in l900! Also I didn't know she lived in New York State....thought she came directly to PA. This gives me something else to work on. Hello, I'm looking for the obituary for : MARGARET ANNE( THOMAS ) HOWELLS who died 13 Jan 1942 Born 12 November 1872 Thank You, Sheri Nielsen Maine,USA
Thanks to all who wrote in response to my e-mail. None of these are my family. I'm sorry I didn't give you more information: Margaret WALSH, b. l855 in Canada moved to Pennsylvania sometime in the early l870's and married Charles O'Malley. They started having children in l874. Their first child was either Francis or William, followed by Anna, Margaret, Mary and Helen. Charles O'MALLEY died in l885 and their is no death certificate for him. I have searched in Canada for her birth certificate but she was born before registration was required. My grandmother was Anna OMalley Boland. She married Patrick J. Boland in l905 and they lived in Scranton. Margaret married Charles HAHNEL and they lived in Elmira, NY. Mary m. Frank KENNEDY and Helen m. Thomas FARRELL. They lived for a time in Olyphant. I imagine Margaret Walsh came to Olyphant with a relative or to work for one but I don't know which Walsh might have been related or how to find out. She died in January, l910 before the census was taken and there is no mention of her in the l900 census. BTW in the l880 census they are listed under MALLEY. I almost didn't find them at all. If someone could just point me in the right direction to keep searching I would be very appreciative of the help. Toni Elmira, NY

Hi everyone, Since the list has been a little quiet lately I thought I would take the opportunity to ask for some help. My ggrandmother disappeared from the census after l880. I cannot find any record of her until she dies in l910 in Olyphant. Her husband Charles O'Malley died in l885 leaving her with 4-5 children to raise. I have checked all of her children to see if she lived with them to no avail. What I need is a substitute for the l890 census. On her death certificate a Mrs. Thomas DOUGHERTY gives the information, not one of her children. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Also, are there any directories for Olyphant? Would there have been any obituaries for someone who died there and in what newspaper. Any help would be most appreciated. BTW she was buried in St. Patrick's cemetery in Olyphant but I have not been able to get any help from the church. Toni Elmira, NY

Thanks to everyone who responded and provided me with information. I have been able to find more information from that which was provided. However, I am still unable to locate anything more on the BRACALI line. Alls I have so far is Vincent BRACALI (spelled barcali) in the 1930 census and Denetri BRACALI in the 1920 census. For Vincent it states that he came here in 1900 which would have been at the age of 2. Still I can not locate he or his parents Germano BRACALI and Maria Stella CASSELLI in any of the census or on a ship manifest through Ellis Island. Does anyone have any ideas? Does anyone have access to any city directories from the early 1900's or does anyone know if the local library participates in inter-library loan?
