    2. Toni Mason
    3. Hi Verna, Saw your posting regarding Patrick Boland. My grandfather was Patrick Joseph (PJ) Boland. He was born in l879 and died 80 years later on his birthday. (1959) He was born in Carbondale, the son of Nancy MULHOLLAND and Patrick BOLAND.. He had quite a few siblings but none of them married. He married Anna V. O'MALLEY in l905 and had 3 children: John (Jack), Margaret, and my mother, Anna. After my grandmother died he remarried Helen and had one more son, again named John who died in World War II. He lived on N. Irving Ave. in Scranton and had a store on Mulberry St. I have been trying so hard to straighten out my ggrandmother's (Margaret WALSH O'MALLEY) history that I haven't had much time to follow the Boland line back in time. Family lore said that the first BOLAND to emigrate was Thomas who was from Connecticut. I haven't verified any of this. I don't believe there is any connection but I will save your post in case I find out more. Toni Elmira, NY

    2. Verna, I don't remember seeing the thread on Patrick Boland, but did get the response to someone named Toni. I have a Patrick Boland, b 10 Mar 1853 in IRL m 10 Oct 1890 in Pittston PA to my Mary Donaghue Gilligan. Patrick reported in 1890 he had been a widower for two years. He died 16 Sep 1921 in Bristol CT; his obituary indicates he left two sons from his first marriage, John Boland of New York City and Thomas Boland of California. Any connection? 3. Hello Sheri, Not sure if anyone responded to you about obituaries. When I was looking for obituaries, I used a service that was offered by the library in Scranton- The Albright Memorial Library. They have something called interlibrary loan. In looking at it today, it seems they have changed the service only for Pennsylvania residents. This is disappointing to me because I live in New Jersey. Hope this information helps. -Carolyn ****************************** Click on: http://www.albright.org/services/gene_photocopies.htm Also: http://www.albright.org/services/Genealogy.htm Photocopies of obituaries or other articles from newspapers on microfilm at Scranton Public Library Although the library does not provide photocopies directly to individuals, you do have three options for obtaining a photocopy of an obituary: 1. Visit the library and print the photocopy yourself. The library is open seven days a week, according to the following schedule:  Sundays 2-5, Mondays through Thursdays 9-9, Fridays 9-5:30, Saturdays 9-5. If you do not live in northeastern Pennsylvania, it may not be practical for you to visit the library.  In that case, you have the following options: 2. Interlibrary loan (For Pennsylvania residents only. If you live outside of Pennsylvania, please see 3. below.) If you have the exact date of death, you may go to your local public library and request a photocopy of the obituary, through a process known as ³interlibrary loan².  Your library will send the request to this library.   We will search for the obituary, photocopy it (if we are able to find it) and send the photocopy to your library. Use this format if you decide to request a photocopy through the interlibrary loan program at your local library:   Title:  Obituary of  _____________________ [List name] Date:   _____________________________ [List exact date of death*] Source:  Scranton Republican/Times/Tribune   *You must list exact date of death.  If you do not know or do not list the exact date of death we cannot process your request. 3.
