    2. Janice The "sport hill" section of Dunmore encompasses a big chunk of area including just below, including and above the now existing Interstate 81/Drinker St. exit ramps. Winton, Drinker, Derrig, River, Flynn, Field, Laurel streets were part of Sport Hill. Meade St. is a current Street there also...not sure if that existed way back when. If you need info...I'll get you more :o) Colleen

    3. On 4/7/1923 Alice Colburn Bonno, born 1899 and Mary V. Colburn, born 1906, died due to a railroad/car accident in Lackawanna Co and were buried in Forest Hill Cemetery. According to records, Alice Colburn Bonno was pregnant and her unborn child perished with her. I am looking for further details in regard to the accident, presuming that there would have been newspaper account/obituaries. Any help in this regard might possibly solve a family mystery of long standing. If anyone could shed light on this accident and details as to family, at least 3 generations of our family would be most grateful. Hopefully, Martha S.

    3. The Scranton Electric Building is right across the street from the Courthouse on Linden St. It was the home of the (go figure) The Scranton Electric Company. It was/is a famous building in the area as it had the big electric lighted sign on the top of the building. They just refurbished it and it is lit once again. Tom Price

Abington Twp. on Willowbrook Road, which was a dead end (after Rt. 80 went through) We lived right off Edella Road before you went over the big bridge over Rt. 80. When they cut through Edella Road for Rt. 80, we bought a house that was in the right-of-way and moved it down to our land. I took moving pictures of the house being moved in the winter with all our furniture in it, and no one would insure it until it was solidly on the ground. Talk about sweating it out. The driver had to back the trailer with the house on it over a stack of about 12 railroad ties high. He had about 6-8" on either side of the tires. The first attempt they started to shift, and he had to pull off so they could rearrange it. When he got the house off safely, the sweat was on his forehead. My hands were shaking so much I could hardly hold the movie camera. But it worked out well. Nice to meet people from the same area. Ruth

There was an accident in the tunnel back in her days. My husband and I ice-skated on the creek that ran through the lower part of her back yard. Ahh - memories! Ruth

    3. Dawn, I just did that, last month! You need to write down all information from the site, and take it to the Lackawanna CourtHouse. They will pull the original will and you can copy each page if you wish, for .25 each. The folks there are very, very nice, and helpful. I suggest you call first, with your estate number, so that they can tell you over the phone, before you make the trip, if they have that particular item available. 3. I'm not sure about Meadowbrook, I just remember it called Southside pool! I remember it was near a Laurel Line tunnel entrance of which the other end was over near Moosic Ave! We used to go a few hundred feet into the tunnel, but were afraid to go through it, for fear of a train coming! There wasn't much clearance on the sides, but my dad said every few hundred ft there was a 2x2 indent you could duck into if a train was to come through! I also remember we could see the pool down the hill from my aunts house, she lived at 7?? Locust, it was a deadend at the top of the hill! The nearest main street was Stafford Ave. a couple blocks away. ----- Original Message ----- From: [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> To: [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, July 21, 2005 11:45 PM Subject: Re: [PA-LAC] Messages In a message dated 7/21/2005 8:52:00 A.M. 3. The wills for Lackawanna County are now available to see and copy at the Register of Wills Office on the third floor of the Lackawanna County Courthouse. Please be advised that in October the Register of Wills Office is moving to the fourth floor of the Scranton Electric Building. They will be closed for a time duing the move. This is per a conversation last week with Linda Munley the Lackawanna County Register of Wills. In response to a question yesterday, the Sport Hill section of Dunmore is off the upper section of Drinker St. the area in where Sherwood Park exists today. Some of the streets are Allen, Prospect, Jessup, Sherwood, Throop, etc. Tom Price
