Hi: Has anyone on the list every heard of the Clifford Valley Cem.? I have several family members buried in the Lackawanna Co. area, but have never heard of this cemetery before. Any help appreciated. Cheryl
Hi Tom. Many thanks for the info on my Teague's, some of it new to me. The purpose of my enquiry is to find any living relatives of the Teague's brothers, as there are many relatives on this side of the water. George and William were brothers of my greatgrandfather John Teague who staid in Aberdare, Glamorgan. Best Regards James. Thomas Price <[email protected]> wrote: In reply to the post from yesterday, there is a George Teague buried in Washburn St. Cemetery, along with two of his daughters. This George was married to a Mary Ann, last name unknown. Mary Ann does also not appear to be buried here, or at least her name is not on the stone. George, born 17 September 1828, died 25 July 1900 Emily E., born 1865, died 4 October 1899 Francis Marie, born 20 December 1867, died 21 February 1897 The information on Washburn St. was taken from trascriptions done of tombstones in the 1940's. It is by no means complete, and can be viewed on the Lackawanna County Webpage. George also left a will when he died, which would be in the courthouse. I saw no mention on the webpage of William. I can tell you that he didn't leave a will, as they are all transcribed through 1939. I see mention of both in the 1870 City Directory, which is also transcribed on the webpage. It was unclear exactly what you know about the family and what you are looking for. Have you checked the censuses? George would have died right after the 1900 and his daughters before. They would not appear. Hi Carol, I'm not real sure about the Petrones as they were "in-laws" I believe Tony's father's name was Joseph.and he was from Italy. Tony (Anthony) was born 1905 and died in Phila 1986. I assumed the family was from the Scranton area, but I'm not sure. His wife, Peg (Margaret Thomas) was my father's cousin. Peg and family lived in Scranton, but when her mother died in 1918, Peg's father moved to Phila to find work and left her with my grandparents to be raised. In the 1930s, Peg joined her dad in Phila He had remarried. So Peg could have met her Tony in Phila. Very interesting anyway!! nice "talking" with you. Dear Shawn, I am not sure if there is a link between our families. You and I will have to see! Our Petrone family is really Lopetrone. When they came here, they dropped the "Lo" from their name. 98 percent of the Lopetrone's came from San Giovanni in Fiore, Italy. Do you know from where your Anthony Petrone (or his family) came? Do you know Anthony's father's name? Carol Heppner
I saw your message regarding old photos and wanted to mention that a cousin of my dad, Margaret Thomas from Scranton married Anthony Petrone. They lived in Phila in the 1930s and had a daughter, Connie. Any relation to your family?? Please let me know. I have enjoyed your responses to my newspaper excerpts. There's more from Mr. Hopewell's Providence Register at the address in the subject line. Some of you may remember when I posted them here a few years ago, but some newcomers to the mailinglist might not have explored all that's available on the Lackawanna County page. Hi Ruth. The following info has a more than good chance that this Gwen is yours. From the 1891 census there is only one Gwen born in 1883 that I could find. Gwen Richards 8y old living at a village called Llangynider in the County of Breconshire, with her mother Ellen J. Richards a widow and Mary age 11, Ellen A. age 9, Gwen age 8 and John age 6. From the 1881 census father is given as Rees Richards born 1857. To obtain more info about Llangynider and where to purchase a copy of Gwen birth cert, see http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/wal/BRE/#CivilRegistration you get a better copy if ask the district office for your request. For Llangynider see http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/wal/BRE/Llangynidr/index.html Best Regards. James. [email protected] wrote: In a message dated 7/31/2005 1:55:33 P.M. Hi Kristen. May I make a suggestion to you, send your info request to the Glamorgan and Carmarthen list. Both lists are very good. Best Regards James Morgan Bridgend Wales Kristen Frederick <[email protected]> wrote: I have the year of Mary & Sarah's birth but not the month. So I'm not sure if he married Mary in Carmarthenshire or somewhere else...soooo, I'm not sure where Mary & Sarah were born. I have searched through the limited online records from Glamorgan and Carmarthenshire and have maybe found a few clues but not enough to send for a birth record. It's very frustrating. --------------------------------- To help you stay safe and secure online, we've developed the all new Yahoo! Security Centre.
