Does anyone know whether it was standard practice to list all family members on a passenger list or just the head of family? The one I'm working with is a Cargo Manifest (1802) which lists passengers, so I'm wondering if this might have been handled differently than a regular passenger list. The list has the name of my ancestor at the right place and time, but it doesn't list the names of his wife and 3 children. Does this mean I should rule it out?
