I'm still trying to verify that my grandfather, Harry French KEPNER b April 23, 1869 in PA, was the youngest son of Benjamin and Eliza (nee unknown) KEPNER living in Port Royal. They had ten children from 1840 - 1869; Hasokiah, Josiah, Mary E., John Allen, Eckitaus (?), William Andrew, Sarah C., Henry, Matilda, and Harry. Any connection let me know please. Thanks. Mary //////////////////////////////////////////////// Mary, I have Newton Frank Benner b. 18 Sep 1883 Richfield PA, m. 31 Aug 1902 to Huldah Etta Sulouff b. 17 Apr 1881. I list two sons and five daughters born to this couple, but will refrain from posting them on the ListServ because my records indicate some of them might still be living. I personally knew Newt and Huldah Benner for some 35 years before their deaths in 1970 and 1965 respectively. They were residents of Burnham, Mifflin Co. PA. Can you tell me if your gg-grandfather, John F. Benner of Richfield, was my Newt Benner's father or grandfather? If we are looking at the same Benner families, I would appreciate receiving anything you have on Newt Benner's ancestors and his siblings. I can help you with descendants of Newt and Huldah Benner, if you want this information. Best wishes, Nelson R. No, I don't know the name. I have Joseph Britton who married to Hannah Frane/Frank. All I know is they had 2 daughters (per Joseph's Pension File) Mary who married William Carvell and Anna who married Benjamin Burroughs. They are all buried in the Grubbs Churchyard, with the exception of the Burroughs', and I don't know where they are buried. They kinda vanished! I wish we connected! Sorry we don't! Have you tried writing to the Dauphin County list? They do have a query board. (I have several lines in Harrisburg, but none with Britton!) Hi, all- I've posted this to Perry Co., but since Juniata is so close, and since some members of the following families moved to Juniata, I'll post it here as well. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ My 4-Great-Grandfather was George ROBISON, born ca. 1727 [maybe] in Coleraine, Ulster, Northern Ireland. He came to the U.S. in the mid-1700's [we surmise] and settled in Tyrone Twp., near Roseburg, Cumberland Co. PA. [the area is now part of Saville or perhaps Tuscarora Twp. in Perry Co.] His wife is unknown, but she may have been Elizabeth. George died in Perry Co. ca 1798, we are told. They had six children: =Thomas, b. 1764, d. 1852; m. (1) 1/13/1789 Agnes McMILLEN; m. (2) Nancy ELLIOTT; (3 children, including Jane who married a George SANDERSON) =Robert, b. 1767, d. 1834; see below =Margaret, b. ?, d. 1843?; m. 8/7/1789 to Alexander SANDERSON =Nancy, b. 1770, d. 1843; =Mary, b. ? d. ?; m. 6/25/1793 to William ROBINSON (five children?) =Elizabeth, b. ? d. ? m. William SANDERSON (William SANDERSON and Alexander SANDERSON above were first cousins. George SANDERSON above was a nephew of Alexander SANDERSON) The above may not necessarily be correct in all details. I'm pretty sure my George is not *Capt. George* Robison, nor the proprieter of *Robinson's Fort*. There are three George Robi(n)sons that I know of in Perry/Cumberland Co., but none have the same children as those listed above. This is my major roadblock. The George of Robinson's Fort was apparently also born in 1727, d. 1814, so these dates may be suspect for my George. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ My 3-Great-Grandfather was Robert ROBISON, born ca.1767 in Tyrone [later Saville] Twp, Perry Co. PA, died Dec 1834 in/near the *Raccoon Valley* of Perry Co. PA. He married Susanna, dau. of William GRAHAM. They had 8 children: =George, b. 1792, d. 1875 m. Jane Margaretta GRAHAM (served in the War of 1812, was known as *Major* George but was only a private or corporal. Bur. Centre Presbyterian Cemetery near Loysville) =Robert, b. 1793, d. 1880; married Catherina HENCH =William, b. 1795, d. 1876; m. Christina ZIEGLER =Jane, b. 1796, d. 1851; never married; =John M., b. 1797, d. 1867; see below =Thomas, b. 1798, d. 1845; never married; =David Elliott, b. 1800, d. 1864; m. (1) Mary CASSETTE; m. (2) Rose Ann WALKUP (five children w/each) =Sidney, b. 1802, d. 1872; never married There is sufficient evidence to make me confident in the accuracy of the above generation. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ My Great-Great-Grandfather was John M. ROBISON, born 3/3/1797 in Tyrone Twp. Perry Co. PA.; m. ca 1820 to Jane R. BAXTER. John and Jane moved to Crawford Co. Ohio in 1837. John died 8/15/1867, and Jane died 5/18/1857. Both are buried in the Goodwill Cemetery, S.E. of Waynesburg, Crawford Co. Ohio. They had 9 children. The youngest was my Great-Grandfather John R. ROBISON. Jane Baxter's father was a Jonathan BAXTER, who operated a Tannery near Roseburg, PA, we are told, though there seems to be no record of Jonathan Baxter with a daughter Jane who fits the time frame. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Any help with these Robisons, Sandersons, and Baxters will be deeply appreciated. Thanks. Tom Robison Ossian, Indiana tcrobi@adamswells.com Never forget the importance of history. To know nothing of what happened before you took your place on earth, is to remain a child forever. For what it's worth suggestion: Instead of responding to a roll call with a message whose subject line is: Re Roll Call, I suggest that actual surnames of the people you are interested in be used. When these messages with Re: Roll Call in the subject line are archived, anyone looking must open the entire message to get an indication of the content. After looking at 125 of these roll-call-subject messages and having to open every one of them, I figured there must be a more efficient way. Maybe this is one way to do it. Regards, John

Perhaps you are not aware that there is a Juniata Co. ListServ where you can also post your notice. You can subscribe by clicking on the highlighted line mailto:PAJUNIAT-L-request@rootsweb.com and entering the word "subscribe" in the blank E-mail message form that comes up. Secondly, if you should get replies to your question that are not posted on both the Juniata and the Mifflin Co. ListServs, would you be so kind as to forward them to these ListServs. There are many of us researching this area of your interest who would like to find the resources you are seeking. Thirdly, you should be aware that after 1800 Presbyterians at times shared use of the Lutheran log church and cemetery at Old Church Hill (Rice's) Lutheran in Spruce Hill Township outside of Port Royal, now in Juniata Co. I have an indexed catalog of the gravestone inscriptions still legible at Old Church Hill Cemetery, so I am willing to look up that cemetery's gravestone inscriptions for you. Later the Presbyterians erected their own church building and moved to what I believe was known as Lower Tuscarora Presbyterian Church, or a title similar to that. It was located at Academia, Beale Township, Juniata Co. I regret I have no information on this Presbyterian church's membership or its cemetery to share with you. The large Westminster Cemetery in Mifflintown is also known as "Presbyterian Cemetery," but I regret I do not have a catalog of its gravestone inscriptions to share with you. Fourthly, if you go to the Juniata Co. cemeteries Website at <http://www.rootsweb.com/~pajuniat/jucem.htm> you will find listings for Westminster Cemetery graves in three separate lists. You may also find other helpful cemetery listings at this Juniata Co. Website. Unfortunately Lower Tuscarora at Academia is not yet filled in. Fortunately for you, Lost Creek Presbyterian Churchyard, Fayette Township, is filled in. You might also find some help on the listing for the McWilliams Presbyterian Cemetery in Lack Township, though this township was somewhat separated from the areas of your interest. All but the first three surnames shown in my sig line below are from the places you mention in your message, and other ancestral names from this area will be found in the "ftp" Website I show below. I have been researching surnames in the Juniata Valley and Tuscarora Creek areas for decades and might be able to help you if you send me a list of the surnames you are working on in this area. Please return this message, or portion(s) of it, as reference in any response you send to me. Nelson R. I am working on Gelnett, and Hays. These families were from Richfield, in Juniata co., PA. Edward Hays, born 1797 was married to Catherine Eve Gelnett, also born 1797. They moved to Elk Co., PA circa 1840, and Edward died the year after. Edward's parents are supposed to be Edward Hays, Sr. and Sally Ann Patterson. Edward Hays, Jr. was allegedly their only child, then Edward Hays, Sr. died. Sally Ann Patterson then married a Henry Heiser, and had four more children to him. Sally Patterson's father may have been a Robert Patterson. Really would like to figure out my Hays line.
