    2. Kathy Mahmens
    3. Hi All! My name is Kathy Mahmens and I'm researching my ROGERS and WILLIAMS lines in Juniata Co. Margaret WILLIAMS is the d/o Samuel Williams b 1758 Beale Twp, Juniata Co, d 30 Oct 1853 Fayette Twp, Juniata Co and Margaret Bracken b 1770, d 25 Dec 1827 Beale Twp. Margaret has the following siblings that I'm trying to track down: 1. William WILLIAMS 2. Martha WILLIAMS m to Joseph CASNER 3. Elizabeth WILLIAMS m to first Henry PIPER & second Hugh BALLENTINE 4. Mary WILLIAMS m to unknown VANORMER 5. John WILLIAMS 6. Jane WILLIAMS m to unknown ROGERS Margaret WILLIAMS was m to John ROGERS (they're my 4th GGP) abt 1828. They resided in Juniata Co prior to moving to Plainfield, Coshocton Co, OH abt 1828, where their son, Erastus Edmond (my 3rd) was born 1829. (Erastus moved to Rock Island Co, IL 1850 and was a doctor.) I found a biography on Erastus at the Rock Island Co Hist Society, which states that his parents were "natives" of Mifflin, PA. Finding anything on a John Rogers is like looking for a John Smith! <VBG!> I have found a Samuel Rogers that was in the area, and I know there was a Roger's Mill there, too. But I have not been able to find anything out on the mill or any Rogers. Would LOVE to hear from anybody that has heard of any of these folks! (Would love to lable John ROGERS as a human being instead of an extraterrestial that landed on Earth via space ship!) Have a good one... Kathy Mahmens <hawkeyes@rogersark.net>

Jane GREEN (b. 1769, Chester Co., PA; d. 1843, PA) and Patrick McCAHAN (b. 1766, Ireland; d. 1826, PA). Their great-grandchildren on the LAUVER side were my second cousins three times removed. Their parents were Ephraim LAUVER (my first cousin, 4 times removed) and Jane Green McCAHAN (b. 1841, PA). 3. Has anyone in their family research run across information on a Leach /Allen family reunion that took place at the Port Royal Fairgrounds in late summer. This reunion began as early as 1920 and stopped about the beginning of WWII or the advent of gas rationing. The reunion was organized by two first cousins, Lewis Leach of Thomspontown and John E. Allen of McCoysville whose father and mother, respectively, were brother and sister. Found a picture of a reunion ca. 1920, need help identifying people. Looking for cousins too! One source says is buried in Barren’s Cemetery, I have no record of that event. Does any one have any information or know of gravesites? Is there any record of a Straw family, In Snyder Co.?

(Valentine II is > buried elsewhere.) I've seen the headstones myself.(a Unfortunately, > Valentine's headstone was face-down as of last fall. /////////////////////////////////////////// To: E. Collison My sincere apologies. I stand corrected. I looked over the Wisehaupt names too quickly in my index of the Old Church Hill Cemetery. I had been travelling for over 24 hours after a week's absence, and I was groggy from lack of sleep when I was at my computer. Should have been sleeping instead of responding to E-mail. There is indeed a gravestone for Valentine Wisehaupt. It is #7 in Row 8 of the Rice Section of Old Church Hill Cemetery. The inscription reads: "In memory of Valentine, son of John and Susanna Wisehaupt Died: October 13 1847 Aged 22 years, 1 month and 22 days." I would opine that the inscription shows this Valentine Wisehaupt died young, and I think the mode of presentation suggests that he was unmarried. There is another gravestone inscription which might interest you, #9 also in Row 8, which of course is not indexed under the name Valentine. It reads as follows: "Margaretta Wisehaupt, nee Bender, wife of Valentine Wisehaupt, Sr. Died: 1804 aged 45 years, 1 month and 3 days." You may also be interested to know that the grave next to hers, i.e. #10 in Row 8, reads: "Zachariah Reiss (Rice) Died: August 19, 1811 after 80 years. Revolutionary War." If you want a full transcription of other specific Wisehaupt gravestones in the Old Church Hill Cemetery, i.e., information not found at the WebSite <http://www.rootsweb.com/~pajuniat/oldhilju.htm>, I will be happy to try to supply same for you. Did your really mean to write that Valentine Wisehaupt died and was buried in the Port Royal area about 1701, or did you intend to type 1801? 1801 is a plausible date, but I believe 1701 is not. I appears you are "barking up the wrong tree" looking for any Wisehaupt burials in the Old Church Hill Cemetery outside of Port Royal before 1803. It was on 1 January 1803 that the German Lutheran Congregation bought 1-1/2 acres of land surrounding the old log church, which had been erected about 6-8 years earlier on the highest land of the Zachariah Rice farm. There are no burials in that graveyard before 1803. The first grave was dug in the Old Church Hill graveyard for a six-month-old child, Johann Daniel Kebner, who had been born on 29 August 1802. I regret I am unable to tell you where German Lutherans were buried in the Port Royal area before 1803. Perhaps another subscriber on this ListServ would be able to enlighten us on that question. The index published in 1982 for the Old Church Hill Cemetery shows a total of 34 Wisehaupts buried in the three sections of that cemetery, but none of these Wisehaupts was named Valentine. Also, you should note that neither the spelling "Weishaupt" nor "Weisshaupt" appears even once in the index for the three sections of this cemetery. If you want to check for yourself the names in that cemetery, go to the following URL: http://www.rootsweb.com/~pajuniat/jucem.htm and click on the highlighted Old Church Hill Cemetery, which will take you to: http://www.rootsweb.com/~pajuniat/oldhilju.htm Good luck in your searching, Nelson R. You will find that surname for sure in Juniata Co., though I cannot guarantee you will find the specific family you seek. I share the following, which is earlier than you seek, hoping it might provide some hints from which to continue your digging: _________________________________________________________ Joseph P. PANNEBAKER married Mary M. WERT (no further info) Their son Joseph Rickett PANNEBAKER b. 12 Sep 1838 in then Mifflin, now Juniata, Co. married Nancy NOTESTINE born 1844 (daughter of Bohn K. NOTESTINE). Joseph Rickett PANNEBAKER died 4 Jun 1915. (No additional information on this family) Daughter of Joseph Rickett, Nettie Lela PANNEBAKER married Andrew Parker Suloff. I have a great deal of additional info on this family and descendants. __________________________________________________________ I regret to tell you I have not traced any PANNEBAKER siblings for either Joseph Rickett or Nettie Lela PANNEBAKER, so I can offer you no additional help from my own records. If you can find census records on these two PANNEBAKER men and their additional descendants, I would think you might have a good chance of finding the PANNEBAKERs you seek. Should you want to work backward on the PANNEBAKER line, you will need to remember that Juniata Co. was taken off of Mifflin Co. in 1831, so any information you seek on this clan of PANNEBAKERs before 1831 should be sought in Mifflin Co., with county seat in Lewistown PA. He was born on March 10, 1814 and died on June 17,1889. He was married to Matilda R. Moore about 1840 . They had the following children: John W. b. abt. 1837(?) and died August, 1852; Harriet, b. abt. 1841; Julian, b. abt. 1844; Mary E., b. abt. 1847; Samuel Evans, my gr-grandfather, b. 1851; and David Jr., b. abt. 1859. According to cemetery records, they also had a Sarah E. who was born October 1, 1841 and died November 21, 1843. Samuel married Sarah Crater abt. 1879. They had 10 children; 9 survived: Robert Oscar; W. Roscoe; Jasper, my grandfather; Dora; Alice; Carl; George W; J. Watson, whose twin survived only a few weeks; and Vesta. I have much information to share about Sarah's ancestors (Crater, Hostetler, Graybill), but nothing about David's. They might have been from Hunterdon County, NJ.
