    1. PANNEBAKER
    2. Roxanne
    3. In the last three years I've plastered this query across the net. There are a few additions so perhaps one of you will recognize a family member and contact me.... Mary Elizabeth Pannebaker (born 1866) md. (1) Dobbs, (2) Swails, (3) Bowersox. She is mentioned in the will of her father George Washington PANNEBAKER. Her daughter, Carrie Ruth Swails md. to Luther COLYER is my grandmother. George Washington Pannebaker married Caroline MESSERMAN. He was born 20 June 1847 and died in Harrisburg, Dauphin Co. on 18 Sept 1915. The 1910 census lists 6 births and 4 children living. Their children were the above mentioned Mary Elizabeth, Neven (b.1875), Benjamin (b.1869), Cloyd (b. 1879), Lilah Matildia (b. 1872) md. Jeremiah Foltz, and Catherine Minerva. The will for George Washington mentions his living children Catherine M. Palmer, Lela M. Foltz, B.F., and Mary E. Bowersox. The will of George Washington Pannebaker is signed by his wife Caroline M. and mentions tracts of lands willed to him by his grandfather - Benjamin Pannebaker. The will of Benjamin Pannebaker reciprocates this mention of land transferred to his grandson - George Washington Pannebaker. The will of Benjamin mentions his wife Elizabeth and children - son Samuel S., daughter Catherine Ubil, daughter Elizabeth Collier, daughter Julian Clark, son William and grandchildren George W. Pannebaker and Mary Lizzie Partner. The will was filed Sept 1876. The certificate of death for George Washington Pannebaker records his father as Geo. W. Pannebaker with no knowledge of the mother and the information was given by Mrs. J. N. Foltz, 2333 Jefferson St, Harrisburg, Pa. Somewhere there has to be other descendents of this Pannebaker family! Do any of you recognize this line??? From Benjamin back the history is "established". There is no mention in the popular records of a son George by Benjamin. There is also an eight year break between Amos who is accepted as the oldest of Benjamin's children and the next child. Any ideas??? Roxanne

Farm Archie McCardle, 32 of near Ickesburg, was held in $2000 bail for Federal Court by United States Commissioner Levin at a hearing at Harrisburg on charges of illegal possession and manufacture of intoxicating liquor. McCardle was arrested Wednesday by Federal prohibition agents at his place, the former Samuel Reisinger place, about 1 ½ miles below Ickesburg, along the mountain. The agents said that they found a forty-gallon still, forty gallons of moonshine whisky and 450 gallons of mash in an outhouse on his farm. McCardle came to this county from Juniata county.

    3. Since the spam that was directed at me did get through on the Juniata list, I think you all should have an explaination. Someone put in bad email addresses in my counties. I was able to remove it from the other two counties in time, but it appears not in time for Juniata count. Hopefully, there will be no more of this but there is really no way I can state that this will not happen again. Sorry, I was not able to stop it this time, hopefully it won't happen again. Vi

    3. To ListServ colleagues: A new book has been published by the Berks Co. Assn. For Graveyard Preservation (BCAGGP) concerning the old family graveyards that have been located in Berks County Pennsylvania. Promotional material says the book contains pictures, maps, descriptions etc. of indexed graves. For more information, see the BCAGP homepage at: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Ranch/3005/graves.html Scroll down to the book entitled "EPITAPHS" and "Click for a Sample." My informant about this book, who lives in Virginia, has told me "A copy has been donated to the library of the Historical Society of Berks County, at which place the compilation may be inspected." I have absolutely no financial interest in this book, nor any relationship with its authors. The sole purpose of this messsage is to publicize what looks like a useful tool for genealogical research on early Pennsylvania families. Please do not send me inquiries for more information about what this publication contains. I do not have it, but I do plan to take a look at it when I visit Berks Co. next month. Nelson R. Sulouff Retired in Arizona
