Usually, the "reply to" address for list messages defaults to the list address, not the sender's address. It's easily overlooked and you think you are replying directly to the originator but it goes to the list instead. You have to pay attention and edit out the list address and copy/paste the sender's address in. Replying to individuals via the list is not always a bad thing either. More info is communicated which may help others make connections. I'm on several lists and my mailbox is constantly overflowing. I just delete the ones I don't need.
