Dear People, I recently received the Civil War Pension papers for John C. Clover's Invalid Pension and his wife's,Lydia's, subsequent widow's pension. A number of people filed affadavits on behalf of borh of these folks, and since the affadavits gave ages and places of residence, I thought that some of this information might be useful to other poeple on the list. John C. Clover served in Co K, 148th Penn Volunteers. We was crushed while repairing an ambulance and suffered disabilties thereafter. John died 14 July, 1897 in the Erie Soldiers and Sailors Home. Lydia seems to have died sometime in 1913 in Elk Co, PA. Her maiden name was Lydia SMITH. I think that her parents were John and Margaret SMITH. I am therefore curious about the relationship of AJ and Perry SMITH, who were witnesses to several papers and also who signed affadavits on the Clovers' behalf. Hope this helps someone!
