ASHLAND (OH) TIMES GAZETTE, Saturday, September 22, 1979 DELVA O. MATEER Delva O. Mateer, 93, died early this morning at the Good Shepherd Home following an extended illness. Born Jan. 20, 1886, in Hormtown, Pa., she was the daughter of Franklin and Matilda Best Schuckers. She had resided in Ashland since 1908, moving to Ohio from Pennsylvania. Mrs. Mateer was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and taught Sunday School for many years. She was affiliated with Rebekah Lodge for more than 60 years and had served as Noble Grand of the lodge. During World War II, Mrs. Mateer was a supervisor at the City Defense Nursery School, caring for the children of working mothers. In later years, and until retirement, she was employed as a practical nurse. On May 13, 1908, she married Charles Helm Mateer, who preceded her in death Feb. 16, 1939. Surviving are one daughter, Marvene Mateer of Ashland and one son, Enlow Mateer of Akron. Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at the Denbow-Primm Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Kinsey officiating.
