    3. ASHLAND (OH) TIMES GAZETTE, Saturday, May 2, 1987 MARY MARVENE MATEER Services for Mary Marvene Mateer will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in the Denbow-Primm Funeral Home with Pastor Terry L. Mohr officiating. Burial will be in the Ashland Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Miss Mateer, 70, of 511 Jay St., died unexpectedly Thursday at her residence. Born in Ashland on Sept. 1, 1916, she was the daughter of Charles and Delva Sugars Mateer. She had resided in Ashland all her life. She was a 1934 graduate of Ashland High School and attended Ashland College, where she received her teaching diploma in 1936. She attended numerous other colleges and graduated from Ashland College with a bachelor's degree in education in 1952. Miss Mateer began her teaching career in Ashland City Schools in 1936, having taught second and third grades in the Lincoln, Edison, Arthur and Osborn schools. She retired from teaching in 1977. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, the Abby Smith Circle, a former member of the church choir, a life member of the Ohio Retired Teachers Association, a member of the American Association of Retired Teachers, the Ashland Branch of the American Association of University Women and a charter member of the Alpha Pi Chapter of the Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority.
