    1. Request: Newspaper article on death of George W. Stewart, MD (d. 12 Aug 1862, New Washington Borough, Clearfield Co.)

    3. I would like to find any newspaper article(s) which reported the death of George W. Stewart, MD, who died on 12 August 1862 in New Washington Borough, Clearfield Co., PA. He is buried at the New Washington Borough Cemetery (his death date is found on his tombstone.) New Washington Borough is located near to the southwest corner of Clearfield County, close to Jefferson, Indiana and Cambria counties (thus the cross-posting to the four county forums.) The hope is that the newspaper article will shed light on the manner of his death, and more importantly any discussion of his family and ancestry. He is supposedly descended from Col. Charles Stewart, the Commissary General who served for George Washington in the Revolutionary War. I do have his will, dated one day *after* his death, but this document does not shed light on any relatives other than his wife -- his only child was born one month after his death. He does appear as a boarder in the 1860 Census for New Washington Borough (he married his wife in 1861), but have not yet located him in the 1850 Census. He was born about 1826 somewhere in Pennsylvania. Why he was in New Washington Borough at the time is unknown. Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated! Thanks. Jon Noring
