Hello listers, I am hoping someone out there can lend a hand. I am looking for the family of HUGH and NANCY GROVE. Hugh H Grove is listed on the 1860 fed census index as living in Jefferson County PA, Washington Township. I want to learn the other information on that census if someone can help. Like.. Hugh's age, wife's age, children listed.. My grandfather was Oren Scott Grove, born in Jefferson County PA in 1865. He was a twin. I know he had a brother Luther Mitchell Grove. What happened to these people? I guess this is my major brick wall. Can anyone be of assistance? Thanks Marilyn Blair [email protected]

HI Marilyn, I was going through some old e-mails and I come accross this one of yours.Did you ever find the information you were looking for?In trying to help you,I checked my 1870 Pa Index (I dont have 1860) and there is no HUGH H GROVE or NANCY.I also have the new LDS 1880 Total Index and Census and I find a Hugh U.Grove age 34 and Nancy J.Grove age 27 with two sons,Victor age 7,and Clarence age 4.They were in Troy,Crawford County. I find NO Oren's, I did find a few Scott's,one born in 1865.In 1880 he is listed with John Mottern and wife Harriet in perry,Jefferson County.He is 15 yrs and listed as "Other".Was Luther Mitchell his brother in law?I have printed out a few pages and if you send me your mailing address,I'll mail them to you.What it looks like is the Hugh Graove I mentioned earlier is not the Parents.They apparently died after 1860 and the kids were farmed out.It looks like Oren Scott and Mary Grove were twins b.1865 and had an older sister Lizzie (Elizabeth?)who married Luther Mitchell.I hope this helps.
