Peggy, In the late 1800's until at least 1931 they lived in an area called "North Freedom in Red Bank". Does this sound familiar? Many of the earlier generation were born in Indiana Co. I've found references in Wesley Robinson's chart (1931 - Provided by Tony Turk) to a Saltsburg location and what he labeled "Robinson", Indiana Co., PA - may have been a personal family reference to their location or maybe a town?, not sure. I found many of them listed as buried in a "Robinson" cemetery in Perry Township, Armstrong Co., PA in a book called Tombstone Hoppin by Patricia Steele. I haven't verified ALL the below info yet but have copies of most of the source material for a lot of it, i.e., tax, census, death, birth, pension, estate/wills, land/deed records, cemetery records, Tony Turk's family research, Wesley Robinson's family chart, Patricia Steele's "Tombstone Hoppin" books, etc., etc. A little more on this family: Emmett Robinson (My Grandfather) b. 1868 was the son of a John and Julia Thompson Robinson. His siblings were: John P. b. abt. 1866; Laura Mary b. 1870 m. (?) Cooper; James J. b. 1872; Robert b. 1874; Emma J. b. 1877 m. Ralph Weldon. Previous Generation: Emmett's father was a John J. Robinson b. abt. 1790 in Enniskillen, Fermanagh N. Ireland. John was a civil war veteran and died at abt. age 45 according to his pension file. He was the son of another John Robinson who married a Rebecca Yalton. John J b. in 1790's siblings were: William b. abt. 1813; Irwin b. abt. 1814 m. Mary Matter; Mary Ann b. abt. 1815 m. Ebeneezer Ferguson; Catherine b. 1820 m. Gilmore Montgomery; Jane b. abt. 1825 m. Joshua Farr; Elizabeth b. abt. 1827 m. David Shaffer; Rebecca b. 1829 m. James Ferguson, Susannah b. abt. 1830 m. John Ferguson; and Hance Elliot b. abt. 1834 m. Susan Reed. John J. b. abt. 1790 was the son of an Irwin Robinson b. abt. 1862 in Enniskillen, Fermanagh, N. Ireland. Irwin m. a Catharine Elliott and besides John had many children, i.e., George b. 1788 m Susanna Brinker; Jane b. 1793 m. John Long; Hance b. 1794 m. Helen Spears; Irwin b. 1796 m. Martha Armstrong and then Mary Cressman; Thomas b. 1798 m. Eliza (Susannah) Long; Mary b. abt. 1800 m. James Mccullough; James b. abt. 1806 m. Maria Steir; William b. abt. 1807 m. Caroline Talmadge, and Elliot b. 1808 m. 1st a Nixon, 2nd a Linn, and 3rd m. a Doty, Christopher b. abt 1812 m. Elizabeth Linn; Elizabeth b. 1819 m. Smith Lynn. Many of Irwin and Catharine's children were born in Indiana Co., PA. Emmett was my very mysterious Grandfather. It wasn't until after his death that we found where he had written in his youngest son's (died at age 15) funeral book his parents names and their addresses. He never married my Grandmother until he was 45 and never mentioned his family or life before her. My father never knew about his father's family until we started genealogical research in the 1980's. Emmett never mentioned he had sons by a previous marriage. I found out about them from his mother's estate settlement records whereas his sons by Jennette Kunselman signed their share of their Grandmother's (Julia A. Thompson Robinson) land in Armstrong Co., PA over to their uncle Robert who lived with and cared for her until her death. The records indicate that Wilbur Robinson and wife Maggie A. were residing in Clarion Co., PA in 1931 when Julia died and Oliver and wife Grace were in Allegheny Co., PA at that time.
