Hello, I am researching the Edinger/Eddinger/Ettinger family line. In particular, I am looking for anything about my gg grandfather: Frederick Edinger, his wife Susanna Avery/Amery Edinger and their 6+ children. US Census records for 1860 show him to be in Jefferson County PA then. I have nothing about Susanna other than an approximate birth year; 1823. I would appreciate whatever you could turn up. Any census image would be great. Thanks in advance. Dennis Edinger
Listers, I found a Carl W. Brosius with wife Bonnie B. buried in Ringgold Cem. Can anyone tell me who the parents of Carl W. were? Thanks for your help! Darla
Does anyone on the list have any information on Martha Whaley, daughter of Hugh and Anna Eisenman Whaley? They were living in Eldred Twp. in 1930. Thanks, Pam

Hi, all ... This may or may not help, but I have a Rebecca Reed in my lineage. She was born circa 1816, married Jacob McFadden 19 May 1835, and died 16 Jan 1890 (the latter two events apparently in Jefferson County). I haven't been able to obtain documentation for these facts yet, but thought I'd pass them along in case they may provide a clue to someone. Mary Jane and Bev - I too live in Phoenix, and have a few Reitz who have married into the Plyler line over the years in Jefferson County. For instance, I have a Sarah Jane, parents not known who married Levi Plyler. She died in 1941, at the age of 81, and is buried in the Ohl cemetery. Then there was Ellis Malcom Reitz, who married Annie Brocius. He was born in 1886, they were married in 1906. In my childhood, I knew him as "Mal". I have a list of their children. I also have a Stanley Martz who married Mary Reitz. Mary was a child of Mal and Annie, and we visited them on numerous occassions, including a Thanksgiving of memory. I don't have dates for either of them, but knew them both in my childhood. They were my father's generation. Dad and Mary were 2nd cousins. Do any of these fit your lines? Bev, the part about Sarah C. KIEHL might be wrong. This is how the book "Who,When and Where Vol III"reads. In looking up Sarah C.'s mothers name on the 1880 Census,I find a the only Sarah C.,b.1863 in Oliver Twp.,parents names are Andrew and Jane Huffman.Have you run into this situation before? Hi John, follow-up message: Found this on the 1870 census, Ringgold Twp., Jefferson Co. KIEHL, Jacob age 28, farmer " , Catherine, age 23, keeping house " , Martha, age 2, " , Sarah A., age 1 (full name is Sarah Catherine) One of the things you can change in your book is the marriage of Daniel COVEL to Sarah/Sadie SHIREY in 1888. Daniel's surname is CABLE not COVEL. Sadie's mother is Elizabeth OSMAN, wife of Alexander SHIREY. Been looking for her death date for years. Hi John, Thanks so much for the information. Someone did give me the death date of William H. REED, 15 Jan 1929. Wow... he would have been 102! A descendant of Wm. REED sent for the death certificate for that date and got a 'No record'. I live in California, but I'm planning a trip to Jefferson County in late summer/early fall, so I may be able to find an obit. I'll see if I can find out from the KIEHL researcher about Sarah's parents. Thanks, John, you're always such a great help to me and others. I am going to the DAR State Conference this weekend, so will not be able to look anything up until after next week, as we are supposed to leave town by the end of the week, so very busy. Will get back to you later on in May. Did any of that infor help you? Just curious. Mary Jane - Phoenix
Bev, I too, have Reitz in my line, but not this line. However, I found and I am sure you have also the following info. Don't know if it helps, but I always figure, it doesn't hurt to look and who knows, maybe something will trigger something else. This came from Ancestry.com. Also, I looked on the 1880 census and it lists all the names you have listed on your email. I will keep this name in mind and if I run across anything that may connect, I will email you. I am on the Jefferson Co. email also. I am formerly from Brookville, Pa, where all of these Reitz families homestead, down in Ringgold, and that area. I live in Phoenix, AZ and have since 1964. Later.... Mary Jane - Phoenix, AZ Families that I am working on: Reitz, Lingenfelter, Minnich, Shovestull/Schoffstall/Schaffstall, Geist, Howerter, Martz, Sherry, Schade, Rockel, Haupt, Frankenfelt, Schick, Schaeffer - almost all have a connection to the Rev. War and I belong to DAR and have researched all of these. There are only about 3 I have not submitted to the society for approval. ************************************************************** Harriet Rebecca REITZ Sex: F Birth: Abt. 1829 in Northumberland Co, PA Death: 10 Jan 1887 in Jefferson Co, PA Father: Jonathan REITZ b: 6 Jul 1806 in Northumberland Co, PA Mother: Catherine SCHMIDT b: 8 Jul 1806 in Northumberland Co, PA Marriage 1 William REED
