Irene, Do you have any other information on Emma? I find two Emmas in 1910. One at Winslow Township and one at Snyder Twp. Both age 14. I don't subscribe to the Census part of Ancestry so I only get part of it. But I can look at my stuff for Emma if you have a little more information. Is this the Emma Elenger sister of James E.? Lillian
According to ancestry she was 14 years old in 1910 and in SNYDER Township, but she was living with Joseph Ashman, wife Rose, Son Thomas, sister Velma and June. They lived in Winslow Township. Emma was listed as "taken to raise." Snyder twsp is around Brockway. Winslow twsp is around Punxsutawney. Census was taken in Winslow township. Is anyone researching an Isaac Kline b. abt. 1883 living in Beaver Twp. Jefferson Co. in 1910? I'm trying to find information on Estella (Stella) Geist born abt. 1887/1888. She was married to David N. Ozman who d. 1907 in Jefferson Co and buried in Coolspring Cem. They had a son Parker William Ozman born 19 Jan. 1906 in Coolspring. The only Stella I could find in the 1910 census and close to her year of birth was a Stella Kline married to an Isaac Kline with children Claire age 7, dau. and beaulah age 2. Can anyone tell me Stella's maiden name? Thanks for any help you can give me. Darla Kelly
In the 1930 census for Punxsutawney I found a Michael Wonderling b. about 1870 married to a Mary E. Can anyone tell me who this Michael and Mary may be? I have quite an extensive family tree on the Wonderlings but never heard of a Michael unless he is using his middle name. Any help would sure be appreciated. Darla Kelly
Hello , Good source when you can not get to 1850 census besides the courthouse Will and Estate records are the tax records that are year to year and dating back to the very early 1800's. When a son turn's 21 back in early 1800's he got to be on the tax list and is usually grouped near the father. I found it helpful in Vasbinder research. It also gives you the year the person entered the county. Be careful though. The townships change boundries frequently in 1800's. Kate Scott mentions in her history page 484 Peter as being a property owner with David Mason of a farm now owned by John Barr. On page 325 she mentions John Ostrander of Warsaw. He is 28 in 1850 census of Warsaw married to Ellen. Jane Ostrander age 77 lives with them in 1860. She claims birth in Ireland. In 1880 John says Mother is born in Ireland Father in New York. Good luck in New York. Have a good day ED
Laurie, Check with the courthouse, which may require hiring someone to do the research, for estate papers for Peter Ostrander. Even if there is no will, the final disbursement of his estate would name his heirs, and hopefully that would include at least all of his living children. Sometimes though, the daughters' shares were left to their husbands. Pat

Hello... Since there have been more requests for the HIMES obituaries, I want to make sure everyone knows that they're now posted.... all 32 of them! Hope everyone will check out this board and often. You can put any name (any word) in and if there's anything that pertains to it, the obit will show up. You never know, you may find a tid-bit of information you would never know about otherwise. Let me know privately, if anyone finds something new. I love to here about successes! Bev in Calif.
I'm searching for the current address of Roger Nale. Can anyone help me? It's in regards to Miles Wonderling. Thanks, Darla Kelly

I am interested in Himes and Hetrick. My grandmother was Carrie Himes, daughter of Henry Himes and Lavina Jane Miller.
The HETRICK obits I obtained have been posted to the Jefferson County Genealogy Project Board. I don't think I copied the entire file, but rather the one I wanted that had other HETRICK obits on the page. If the ones you want aren't posted, I suggest you write to the Punxsutawney Historical and Genealogical Society in hopes that they have what you want. I'm in the process of posting the HIMES obit that they had. I'm pretty sure I copied the entire file. There is a Henry M. HIMES married to Viola SLYOSS. If your grandmother, Carrie HIMES, was married she would be in a file with her married surname. Keep in mind, the Punx'y H&G Society only has the obits that the volunteers clip everyday or those that are sent to them by people like us. They accept any that have Jefferson County connections. I recommend that you give them a try first. If they don't have it, contact a local library near where the person died. (I find the libraries by using the one-line white pages.) Then send a copy to the society and post it to the board. When I was going through one of the file folders, I also saw a family group sheet, so I guess they accept those, too. Several years ago, I had corresponded with Margie Myers at pmyers@bright.net regarding Yoder genealogy. Seems that address is no longer valid as I received a bounce back recently when sending to that address. Margie - if you are still out there, please reply as I would like to correspond further regarding the Yoder line.
