    3. Pam, I pulled out my copy of The 149th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry Unit in the Civil War by Richard E. Matthews, copyright 1994 and published by McFarland and Co., Jefferson, NC. Appendix B is a regimental roster compiled by Charles Faust and Mr. Matthews. On page 269, it says Wilson, James C., Co. D, Corporal, wounded 5/6/1864 Casualty Sheet List. I also looked in Pennsylvania Bucktails, a Photographic Album of the 42nd, 149th, and 150th Pennsylvania Regiments by Patrick A. Schroeder From the collection of Ronn Palm, copyright 2001 and published by Schroeder Publications, Daleville, VA. James is not here, but the book has a few unidentified bucktails in it. Both books can be purchased at the Clarion County Historical Society, 17 South Fifth Avenue, Clarion, Pennsylvania 16214-1501, 814-226-4450. If you go to the PA Archives Website at http://www.digitalarchives.state.pa.us/archive.asp you can look up James' Civil Ward card. That will give you more information, and give you his pension number so you can send for his record. You can then go to this site which will tell you how to go about sending fro it http://www.oz.net/~cyndihow/pensions.htm#B If you have never sent for one, I urge you to do it. You can find lots of useful information from a list of children to a copy of marriage certificates! There is also a 149th Pennsylvania Bucktails Descendants Association at http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Lane/6496/ Membership is free, and there is a list of all members and the veteran they descend from.
