    1. FYI- Newspaper scans
    2. Sherry
    3. PLEASE READ: I just wanted to let all of you know that the Tri-County Sunday edition of the DuBois Courier Express is the only issue where engagements and marriages are featured for the week. These articles have good family info in them and I will post them to the list, but if you need a scan of an engagement, wedding, or anniversary-- YOU NEED TO CONTACT ME WITHIN TWO DAYS OF MY POSTING TO THE LIST. That's about how long it takes me to get sick of all the newspaper piling up on the end of the couch. :-) I don't keep these types of articles unless they pertain to a family that I work on. If you need an obituary, that's no problem as I cut and keep them all throughout the year. I have obituaries from the DuBois Courier Express from 1998 (partial year starting about March), entire years of 1999, 2000, 2001, and I am now starting 2002. I CAN do lookups in these obits, but you need to be SPECIFIC about who you are looking for because I don't yet have them indexed and each year amounts to well over 300 pages. (Indexing is on my "to-do" list along with everything else!) Thanks for reading, and have fun! Sherry

    1. CRAFT/SMOUSE
    2. Hi, In the wonderful postings on the Jefferson County page, under the following book: "Jefferson County, Pennsylvania - Her Pioneers and People," Vol. II, by Dr. William James McKnight, published in 1917 by J.H. Beers & Company, Chicago, page 314. on John F. Reed is the following exerpt. On Nov 26, 1884, Mr. Reed was married at DuBois to Amanda Craft, of near Big Run, daughter of the late Joseph Craft, a pioneer of Jefferson county, whose wife's maiden name was Smouse. Does anyone know anything about this Joseph Craft and his wife _____ Smouse? Both are my families and I wasn't aware that they were in Jefferson Co. Could someone please forward this request to the Fayette Co., PA list? That is where my Crafts lived. Thank you very much, Wendy

    1. Adams Family
    2. A big thanks to those who have responded so quickly to my message. But I have a big question. Margaret Evaline Adams Depp was my husband, s ggrandmother and his grandmother was Martha Estelle (Stella) Depp Himes. According to family lore passed down from Stella Depp they were descendants to Pres John Quincey Adams, thus to Pres John Adams. I cannot make this connection. Were they direct descendants or through a nephew or some other connection? Is this fact or fiction? All his relatives declare that this is true but I am having difficulties with connecting to this lineage. I have four generations of Adams starting with John Adams, (1691-1797), married to Susanna Boylston (1709-1797). This is Pres John Adams father. If anyone is interested in these four generations will be happy to send. Along with family lore, I understand that the Historical Society of Jefferson County has printed that Robert, Margaret, s brother was a descendant of Pres John Adams. Need any imput on this as I would indeed like to prove this lineage. Thank you for any and all information. Pat

    1. Re: WW 1 Draft Registration Cards
    2. Does anyone know if the above registration cards are on microfilm with LDS? Looking for Call Numbers to order into local FHC for both WW 1 and WW 2 for Jefferson, Clarion and Armstrong Counties. I have looked at the FHC microfilm catalog library for Call Numbers and cannot locate to order, but feel the microfilms probably exist, I just haven't located the numbers to order them. Thanks for any help. Joyce
