Richard, I don't know how much this will help you, but at least in will give you a place to start. I'll bet that Rachel is Clemens and Mary daughter's , Clemens mother was named Rachel and he had a sister named Rachel, who married Joseph McLaughlin. This is Clemen's Sr.'s marriage record: Cumberland County Marriages 1761-1800 McGeary -Smiley Sept 9, 1767 by Rev. J.C. Bucher, Clemence McGeary to Rachel Smiley (Here is some information that I have found on the net( I have not documented this info) pertaining to Rachel Smiley in case you find out that this is your line: Rachel Smiley born abt. 1750 in Carlisle, PA d/o John Smiley II. John Smiley II was b. 1706 in Lakeshire, Scotland d. 1780 in Carlisle, PA. He married Margaret Buchanan and they had children: James, John, Archibald, William, Thomas, Agnes, Margaret, Mary, and Rachel. ) Here is the abstract from Clemens, Sr.'s will naming daughter Rachel and son Clemens: Wills: Abstracts 1750-1776: Will Books A-B: Cumberland Co, PA Will abstracts Westmoreland County, PA Page 330 Clemens of Clemense McGeary, farmer of Mt. Pleasant Township, dated Jan 10,1779, proved Jan 2,1779 , wife Rachel, children William, John, Elizabeth, Margaret, Rachel, and Clemence(youngest son) William McGeary and John Griffin witnesses John Courtney, James Tanner, and William Thompson 1 page 18 They was an article in one of the Brookville papers on Oct. 13, 1880 that reports on the McGeary Reunion noting that Clemens b.. 4/1789 died 3/3/1864 and Mary McLaughlin b. 1789 were married Jan. 1811 in Westmoreland County, PA and came to Jefferson County in 1833. It states that they had 11 children. If Rachel Moore was one of the children she probably attended the reunion and should be listed in the article with any luck. The Jefferson County Historical Society should be able to make you a copy. The only children that I know of for sure are Martha McGeary b. 1812 d.1897 who married Charles Boner, my ggg-grandparents, and Jane McGeary b. 1826 d. 1895 married Judge John Thompson. I think that William McGeary( b. abt 1814 who married Mary Ann Hall on June 20, 1837 in Jefferson County, PA) is his son, too, but I have not found anything to document this. I hope that this helps you. Joyce, Just checked the web site for the Punxsy Spirit http://www.punxsutawneyspirit.com/ and discovered they are working on it. You should be able to contact them by email through it, however, to ask how to obtain a copy of the obit. You may also want to check the archives for the DuBois Courier Express at: http://www.thecourierexpress.com/index4A.shtml You can also contact the CE through it's web site. Can anyone tell me who the parents of Eve Himes were? She was born in February of 1841 presumably in Jefferson Co., PA and died on August 30, 1911 either in Horton Twp or Fox Twp., Elk Co., PA. She was married to Benjamin Vanleer Reed, and they were married in 1862 somewhere in Jefferson Co., PA (I think maybe Oliver Township). I have seven children for them. Paula, I may be related to this McGeary/McGarey family, but I don't know because I have not been able to establish the McGeary/McGarey link in my family history. Perhaps your research can help. Thank you for your interest. I don't believe there was a Thomas in this family. Kennedy children were Susanna Agnes who married John Thompson, William Benjamin, Mary Jane who married Crawford Hindman and one other son who may have been John.
Hi, is any one researching the Clemens McGeary or Charles Boner families of Rose Township. I descend from Charles Boner b.1808 in Westmoreland County, PA and his wife Martha McGeary b. 1812 in Westmoreland d/o Clemens McGeary and Mary McLaughlin. Charles and Martha's daughter, Maretta, b. 1853 married Charles Calvin Yeomans, the son of John S. Yeomans and Mary Ann( possibly Steele). Calvin and Maretta's daughter, Twila "Carrie" Yeomans b. 1873 married Clemence Wank b. 1865 s/o Godfrey and Catherine ( Miller) Wank and their youngest son, Edward Wank, was my grandfather. I would love to hear from anyone else researching any of these families. Thank you, Paula

Thank you for your response. I did know that Agnes and John Thompson had a family but mixed up my generations the other evening. It was actually Edith Thompson who married George Trimble Rogers who died without issue, just a few months after her marriage. I believe she is the one listed in the history as Laura Edith Thompson. I am still searching for the name of the 2d son of William and Mary McClure Kennedy. Was he John Kennedy who had son William A. and son Robert W. in the 1880 census? Whose son was McClure Kennedy? Thank you all for your help.

Hello Listers, I am looking for George Barringer b. about 1787 who married (probably 2nd), Sarah (McClure) Daugherty, widow of ____ Daugherty. They were probably married in Indiana Co., PA and moved to Jefferson Co., PA, although they could have been married in Jefferson Co. I've hit a brick wall with this one for the last four or five years. The name has also been spelled: Berringer, Beringer, Berenger, Baringer, Beranger, or ??? Thanks, Wendy
You said that Agnes, Daughter of Rev. William Kennedy and Mary McClure died with no issue. I'm sorry that for many of you this will be a triple posting, but due to proximity of New Bethlehem, Clarion Co., to Jefferson and Armstrong Counties, the obituaries cover a wide area and require posting to all 3 counties. My hope is to post obit extractions from the New Bethlehem Leader-Vindicator (published every Wednesday) on a once a month schedule, posting a full month at one time. If anyone is interested in an email full text typed obit from any of the abstracts, please contact me directly, not to the List. If anyone objects to this, or future postings of like kind, please speak now, or forever hold your peace. :>) Joyce [email protected] The Leader-Vindicator, New Bethlehem, PA, Jan. 2, 2002: Leo Otto BOWSER, 89, b.
