    1. [PAISLEY] Welcome to the paisley Group
    2. Jim Jackson
    3. https://Groups.io/g/paisley Welcome to Groups.io, our new home for genealogical discussions. This is an exciting time with a very impressive website and the opportunity to rekindle our communications and, perhaps, revive research that has been set aside for a time. Diane and I want to encourage you to make us of this group with your brick walls, successes, questions and whatever answers you may have for others' queries. To begin with, introductions are encouraged, including some history about yourself etc. If we can feel like a "family" we might get more out of being here. We definitely do not want to make this such a strict environment that you are discouraged from entering or starting discussions. If you on the Rootsweb list have not yet joined at groups.io, simply click on the link at top of this message and click "Join This Group." We want you to enjoy being a part of this group and to be glad you joined in the first place. If you have other group connections where you may spread the word about us that will be great as well. Looking forward to hearing from you all, Jim "Pops" Jackson and Diane Sowden

    1. [PAISLEY] Notice about Rootsweb Lists
    2. Jim Jackson
    3. This has been received from the Rootsweb administration: "Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails." We are presently setting up email groups at https://groups.io/. If there is interest in migrating this list to groups.io please respond to this message to that effect ASAP. Please have patience about the creation of your group. The response has been tremendous and it is taking time to get them all set up. Also, creation of this group will depend upon your response to this missive. With heavy hearts, Jim and Di

    1. [PAISLEY] Help Keep This List Active
    2. Jim Jackson
    3. We just wanted to encourage you all to make use of this list in your family searches. A large number of Rootsweb lists have been made inactive due to no messages over a period of time. We want to keep as many lists active as we possibly can and your participation will help toward that goal. If you have a "brick wall" in your family search, send in a message to the list address with as much information as you have and let's see if someone may be able to help fill in those blanks. Best wishes, Jim and Di

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: tiffnzacsmom1 Surnames: Paisley Foster mortimer Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.paisley/129/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am running into all sorts of dead ends about my Great Grandmother Ann Paisley Mortimer. Both her parents died while she was very young, my mom said her mother died when she was 2 so about 1911 or so when her sister Grace was born and her father shortly thereafter. The girls were raised by their step mother and her second husband a Mr Foster. In the 20's she and her various sisters lived around Aliquippa Pennsylvania but they are all gone now as are most of their children. My grandfather knows nothing about his mother's parents and neither does my aunt or grandmother. I know a sister married a Junak and lived in Aliquippa but I do not know if she was a half sister or a step sister. My grandfather thinks she may have been born on the eastern side of Pennsylvania but an aunt thinks either here or in Ohio where her husband, my great grandfather George Ivor Mortimer, was born. Did anyone lose track of these girls from a family tree when their mother or father died? I'd love to be able to track her family down. She also had a love for flowers and was a crack shot if that helps any Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 1. Re: [PAISLEY] BLAIR / CLARK, Paisley area
    2. Try curiousfox.com That is a network, evidently of UK people who assist in research. Our genealogist has had success in getting good information from them. Would you happen to be related to the Coats & Clark, Clark? You know there's a Coats cathedral in I think Paisley, may be Glasgow. Yes, the Abbey does have a graveyard, as I recall. I should be able to say with certainty, since I've been there twice. But, seems like it does. -----Original Message----- From: Norman Rowcroft <rowcroft@waitrose.com> To: PAISLEY <PAISLEY@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wed, Jul 18, 2012 5:40 am Subject: [PAISLEY] BLAIR / CLARK, Paisley area I am trying to sort out my BLAIR and CLARK ancestors who lived in the Paisley area in the first half of the 1800s. The families seemed to favour Paisley Abbey for baptisms and marriages. There are a number of possibilities and I am struggling. One hope would be to find graves which may show relationships. Does the Abbey have a graveyard and, if so, have the MIs been published. I have looked at the Lanarkshire and Paisley web sites and they do not mention such lists. If there are no burials at the Abbey which would be the most likely churches to look at. Any help would be much appreciated.
