Your assist got me workin' on the Buterbaugh end of things and I found a well documented Buterbaugh family tree posted here on Ancestry.com: http://awt.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=SHOW&db=lsfleming&surname=Buterbaugh%2C+J%2E+Edward It turns out my two Buterbaugh gents were first cousins twice removed. I was hoping for a little closer connection because it does make so much more interesting a story, but I am happy to settle for the facts of the matter. My insatiable curiosity causes me to hope for eventually finding more about how these two families related socially, etc., but at least, for know, I've closed the gaps, and corrected some data that seems to have originated in faulty LDS records.
