I can see now that by the way the census taker was working, he wasn't being limited to a particular P.O. area, and that becomes meaningless in trying to establish locations of individuals. I just came back from the local LDS library, and made a list of neighbors for 1850, 60, and 70, and will try to use that for a basis to pinpoint locations. The John Knauff on the map is an unrelated neighbor. Appears to have arrived in the area between 1860 and 1870, and is household #149 in what is labeled as Grant P.O. Haven't checked him out to see where he came from before then. But Hartman appears to be in that corner of the township, and his father Michael, appears to be on the South side of the Mahoning creek, in North Mahoning Township. . I am finding out the hard way that whoever wrote the article in "History of Indiana County, Pennsylvania, her People past and Present", used considerable liberty in the story of this family. They! indicated that the Knauf's lived 3 miles East of Trade City, so I have been searching in that area to no avail. I think I am on the right track now. Thanks for the help, and the direction to look in. It is greatly appreciated. Dick
