I thought there was one John Knauf. There appear to be 4. First is on the 1840 census, between age 40 and 50. 2nd is on the 1860 census at age 14. 3rd is on the 1870 census at age 59, with a son John age 18. This older John Knauf appears to be the oen on the 1871 map. Of all of these what I was originaly looking for was the relationship of the John Knoff/Knauf of 1840 census to Michael Knoff/Knauf of the 1840 census. I would also be interested in finding out if there was a relationship between the John Knauff/Knauf, age 59, of the 1870 census and Michael Knauf of the 1840, 1850 census. Hope that clarifies things. There may be no one out there who can answer this though. Thanks Dick
