Martha, The last three notices are the same family, that of James RAGER, son of George RAGER & Sarah JUNKINS. I see that Barb already sent you the information about George W. This Nancy was George's mother. Her maiden name eludes me but I have a strong suspicion that she was a RAGER and cousin to her husband, James: James Rager, of Burrell township, died on Friday morning, aged 83 years. The deceased had been in the service of the Pennsylvania Railroad Company for a long period during his active years but for some time previous to his death had been on the retired list and also so receiving a pension from Andrew Carnegie. His wife, one son and four daughters survive. Indiana Progress Indiana, Pennsylvania Wednesday, June 15, 1904 Margaret Appleton was a daughter of James and Nancy. She was the second wife of William Appleton, who I believe was married first to Matilda Rager, a second cousin of Margaret's! Another daughter was Lucinda who never married: Miss Lucinda E. Rager died at the home of her sister, Mrs. Margaret Appleton, in Coral on Wednesday morning of last week, after an illness of about three weeks, in the 54th year of her age. She was a sister of Mrs. James Shearer and Mrs. James N. Sipes, of Blairsville. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon by Rev. J.W. Shaffer, of Homer City, and interment was made at Hopewell. Indiana Messenger Indiana, Pennsylvania 22 April 1914 Front Page Mrs. Sipes was sister Martha: MRS. MARTHA A. SIPES, 81, widow of James N. Sipes, died at 7:24 p.m. Saturday in the home of Abbie Shearer, 354 Water street, Blairsville. A daughter of James and Nancy Rager, she was born in Homer City April 9, 1862. Indiana Evening Gazette Indiana, Indiana Co., PA 12 July 1943 Sarah was Mrs. James Shearer. I don't have an obit for her (yet) but she died in 1937. I have this partial one for James: FOUR KILLED ON ___ THE RAILROAD James Shearer Cut in Two ___ Yards at Blairsville E.H. PINKERTON DIES OF INJURIES Theodore Barker Was Struck by a Train at New Florence and Died Instantly - Former Blairsville Boy Run Over at Millwood and Died Shortly After James Shearer, of Blairsville, was instantly killed in the West Penn railroad yards, at Blairsvile, about 8 oclock Saturday night. He was on his way home and was making a shortcut through the yards. The unfortunate man was walking between the tracks but evidently did not notice that the engine on one track was shoving _____ several cars on the adjoining track by ___ pole. The indications are that ___ was struck by the pole and knocked under the wheels. The engine and ___ loaded cars passed over him. The accident was not discovered until some papers were noticed strewn along the tracks. The crew went back and found Shearer with his body cut in two at the waist. The upper portion was lying on the outside of the track. The lower portion was between the rails. Coroner Davis was notified of the death. He went to Blairsville Monday morning and summoned the following jury: J.A. Shurm, P__ Hoffman, E.H. Thompson, Robert Reed and M.G. Miller. After examining the train crew, the jury brougth a verdict of accidental death, and found that the railroad company was in no way responsible for the same. James Shearer was 50 years of age.
