IDA (STEPHENS) BROWN. From the effects of a paralytic stroke, Mrs. Ida (Stephens) Brown, 72, passed away in her home, 455 Church street, at 9:30 a.m. Sunday. A daughter of Giles and Catherine (Craig) Stephens, she was born January 27, 1866, in Cherryhill township and had lived in Indiana for a number of years. She had previously lived for 36 years in Burrell township, near Blairsville. She was a member of the First United Presbyterian, the Women’s Bible Class and the Mothers of Democracy. Surviving are a daughter, Miss Gladys Brown, at home; four brothers: B.L. Stephens of Clymer, C.W. Stephens of Spangler, N.W. Stephens of Indiana, R.D., and E.H. Stephens of Penn Run; two sisters, Mrs. I.P. Edwards and Mrs. C.C. Coy, both of Clymer. A son, Paul Stephens Brown, was killed in France during the World War, and two daughters preceded their mother in death. Friends will be received after the noon hour Tuesday in the family home, where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Rev. Stillman A. Foster, D.D., of the First United Presbyterian Church, here, and the Rev. R.E. McClure, D.D., pastor of the Blairsville United Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Blairsville Cemetery. _______________________________________________
