DANIEL ROSS, aged 85 years, died on September 9th at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W. C. Lydick, of Summit, Bedford county, of of cancer of the left hand, from which he had suffered for the three years. He was born at Scalp Level, Somerset county, being a son of Noah and Mary both OF whom died at the age of 92. When he was 13 years old his parents moved to a farm in this county and he lived with them until he was 21, when he took up farming' himself. At the age of 20 he married Elizabeth Adams, and five children were born to the to the union, two of whom survive, Mrs. W. C. Lydick, of Baker's Summit, and Daniel L. Ross, of Blairsville He is also survived by twenty grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and a brother and four sisters: Joseph Ross, of Westmoreland county, Mrs. Caroline Macafuse, of Decker's Point, who is 100 years old; Mrs. Barbara Potts, of Five Points; Mrs. Mary Snyder, of Ohio, and Mrs. Sheesley, of R! ochester Mills. Early in life he joined the Lutheran church, but later became a member of the Baptist church. Funeral services were held at the Lydick home Saturday evening and the body was taken to Five Points, where interment was made, Monday, September llth.
